Man, I swear I've been in New York a bunch and it still amazes me every time. I LOVE THIS CITY! So, I spent the last week there doing some label meetings, played a showcase for the label, met with some agencies, etc etc (basically trying to get the project moving) which all went great! More info as things start rolling...
I'm a man of my word and said that I was gonna try to hang with some "myspace folks" while I was in town that I didnt know, but who cares right. So me and my buddy hung with a few of my new friends that I had made on here (so keep in mind, if i'm around your area, look me up and we better hang BUT you better bring your party shoes!)
Got to hang with some friends I knew, but haven't seen in a while there too... I got to see my friend Javier play at the Virgin Megastore (if you're not familiar check him out. He's got a cool acoustic kind of R&B thing going, and just released his 2nd album).
Also spent a little time with my new friend Natasha Bedingfield (same goes, if you havent heard her she is a great singer). We met a while back in LA, and since we're on the same label, I am hoping to do some shows or something together in the near future!
The night before I left I got to hang with another new friend (who I met originally from my brother) Butch Walker, who I can't even describe how badass this dude is!!! It was a crazy night to say the least. Got drunk as hell and lost my cell phone (so I have felt naked for 2 days now) There were a ton of people there in this bar/club and out of nowhere 3 times what does the dj blast??? HE PLAYS "360"... YES MY SONG!! Now I know, I know, your thinking "it's just a bar" but it was a cool feeling to hear it a few times and people loved it! Hope you will all be hearing it in the next few months...
Well on the "work" side of things, all is set for this tour in April with Wertz! Im going to have some posters and a 3 song sampler to give away for FREE! I can't wait for this to get started. Gonna also be posting live footage during the tour, so stay tuned. See some of you real soon...
Thats all I got for now, gonna run to try to hang with my brother (who I havent gotten to see in a few weeks). Speaking of him... check out his new record cause it's the shit!!! www.willhoge.com
Hope all of you had a great weekend, and we'll talk again soon. Jhoge

FIRST OFF, I have to start by shouting a friends music out(not that his ass needs my help at this point). A while back before I was signed to Epic I became good friends with a guy (who was also unsigned at the time) and we sat in his living room for months writing really kick ass songs together, which later helped lead to my record deal, and also he was signed as well to Def Jam . His name is NE-YO and you may have heard of him (he only has the biggest record in the country right now)! If you dig that style of r&b you'll love him. check him out asap... he's the real deal.
Now on to more news and happenings with me... So I just returned a few days ago from some meetings in LA (which were kick ass) and got to spend a few days at home, before I head out to NYC tuesday for the rest of the week and more meetings. YES ITS MORE ABOUT THE MEETINGS THAN THE MUSIC PEOPLE!!! haha...
So to brief you on whats going on, THE RECORD IS FINISHED!!! No dates, etc yet but stay tuned. Well, not a whole lot going on this weekend in Nashville but you know I can find trouble. Just been laying pretty low, although I did just get some more artwork done to my left arm for any of you tattoo lovers! #10 and counting... If youre in Nashville and need a great tattoo artist, check out brandon hannah at lonewolf bodyart!
Well last night, as I typically do here in town, I went to see a few bands play, hung with some friends, drank a lot, and I ran into a good friend Marc Broussard at the bar and hung with him for a bit. He's spending some time here writing for his new album which sounds like is gonna be great! If you havent checked him out... do!
Getting all setup for this tour in April, and really looking forward to it. Im only playing for 30 minutes so get out early and say hello afterwards! I will be setting up a kissing booth for $5 or a jack and coke! I'm easy like sunday morning ya know...
I hope you all have a great rest of the week, and please keep checking back for updates, voice msgs I will be leaving, etc. Make sure you stay in touch with myspace.com/joshhoge and joshhoge.com (cause there could be different things on each). I will update you on the NYC meetings this week, and hopefully the word on a single real soon!!! Thanks for all the positive feedback so far from you all, and please help spread the word and make this thing work...
later,

So after getting signed to Epic in January, and after writing my ass off with friends to try and come up with the best songs I could write for this debut record, the journey to actually make the record began here in my hometown of Nashville TN, in April. I started working on some tunes with some friends from here named Drew Ramsey and Shannon Sanders. I was a fan of their production, mainly from the work they have done with india.arie. We worked on a few songs together and had a good first experience. They are really talented, and one of the tunes - "360" - came out especially great!
From Nashville, I headed to Los Angeles in May to meet and work with a few other producers. I ended up doing a lot of songs with a young guy out there named Troy Johnson. We really hit it off in the studio, and vibed over the course of the next few months. Troy comes from a cool music upbringing (his father is George Johnson from the funk/r&b group The Brothers Johnson) so he had a great feel for things already.
While in LA, I also worked with a close friend named "ALIAS." He co-produced some tunes with my a&r guy Flynny (who is a great producer!) "ALIAS" wrote the majority of this record with me, and things were moving along great.
So after months of my southern ass living in LA working, singing, drinking all the whiskey LA had, mixed in with some fine partying, it was time to move on......

I got to come back home for a few weeks in September to hang with friends/family, and, MOST importantly, climb aboard a rock and roll tour bus and travel around with my brother, his band, and our friends The Marc Broussards. It was great to just take a break and be back hanging with my big bro!
After that I had to get back to work...(sort of). Wasn't a lot for me to do, but I drove to Bloomington Indiana, (where I've never been) to meet Flynny (see pt.1) where we were going to cut the drums for the record. Flynny brought in a guy from Indy named Devon Ashley to play, and he killed it on the songs! Ripped right through them like nothing, in no time, and we were done with that. We expected to be there all night, and after a few hours and NOW hours to kill in Bloomington, the conversation at the studio went like this sort of...
ME: "WOW, that was fast...what now"?
THEM: "Well, I know some college folks if ya'll wanna go to like a bunch of college kids party"?
ME: "Not yes, but HELL YES"!
You must understand, I never went to college so I know nothing about that, but I have been known to party (once or 7,000 times) and I've seen what hot college girls look like! So we partied in Indiana, and what's amazing is the whiskey there tastes just like ours in Nashville and in L.A. - so I'll have to go back again. CRAZY HUH?
From there it was back home for a bit, and then......

Back in Nashville for a few days, I had a good friend come in from LA to produce the last song I recorded. His name is David Ryan Harris, and the song is called "Work That Body" (and both he and the song are amazing!). I really hope to continue to work with him more in the future. After we finished that, all the recording was done for the album with just one thing left to do...
I went to Philly to hear them cut live strings on a song called "Undone". This was one of the coolest things I've ever experienced. Sitting, watching a mini orchestra playing beautiful arrangements to one of my songs was awesome!
After a couple more days back home, photo shoot, trip to NYC, back home again, etc. I headed to LA again for the mixing of the record...
Now sitting back in a studio in Los Angeles, where my record is being mixed by a guy named Manny Marroquin. Manny is a BADASS!!! He's mixed a lot of stuff, but not really anything that's been successful. He's done records for some girl named Alicia Keys, and some dudes named Kanye and Usher to name a few? He also has a boatload of Grammy's at home. I know, you don't want me to bore you on these nobodies. HA! In seriousness, this record I have made I am really happy about. I can't wait for it to be heard soon! It has been a great experience so far, and let's just see where it takes me now...
Headed home to Nashville......
