He has extensive Hip-Hop industry experience that includes selling thousands of mixtapes CDs, being featured in Ozone and the Midwest Leak magazines, and spinning on Sirius Satellite Radio. His degree in Music Business and Music Studies at Indiana University spiced his knowledge of and affinity for all kinds of music. He has put in work lugging record crates to the clubs every night, interned at 100.3 the Beat in St. Louis, assisted and produced for a top 5 DJ (according to The Source Magazine) DJ Scream and Hoodrich Entertainment in Atlanta, and DJ’ed for, promoted, and consulted with G.B. The Flyboi and Fly Star Entertainment in Indianapolis. Through these experiences, Jay-O has developed into a savvy DJ and producer with a very unique and exciting style. He is a true student of music with a keen ear for an awesome mix.
See, Jay-O has a very unique background. He grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia exposed to 80’s and 90’s pop, rock, and country music that he loved, but Hip-Hop and R&B were the sounds that initially shaped him. During college he became very influenced by electronic music, and has since incorporated it into his mix. He’s versatile and very open to all kinds of music; a true Disc Jockey. No longer restrained to any certain genre, the combination you hear in a Jay-O mix is unlike any other. He spins Hip-Hop, Pop, Electronic, Club, House, Reggae, and more. He stays true to his ear and his influences and knows the music. The results are vibrant mixes of great music that light up listeners and partygoers everywhere!
