We're working hard to book a college tour for 2008, and things are beginning to piece together. We'll see you all on the road - at your school - in the fall. We still have a few openings for the Spring, so please contact us if you'd like to have Jay play at your school (this Spring or coming Autumn): jaymathes@jaymathes.com.

I can't really express in words the way that this past weekend in Lake Geneva has affected me. Where to start? If I were simply to sum it up, it wouldn't be enough. But here's where I can start:
I learned a little something about my humanity. Life is fickle, and emotions are deceptive. I also learned a bit about serving selflessly - because way too many people - people like ourselves - live on the "margins" - lonely, longing, searching with the last of their strength for something beautiful to live for.
Okay, enough of that. But it's true. We've got to be loved. We've got to live for that love. And it's a love deeper than anyone has fully known. Seek it out. Hold it near. And comprehend what you can of it.
I'd like to give a brief thanks to Russ and Ben for teaching me a few of these things this week.
Thank you all for making this a beautiful, joyful weekend, allowing me to do what I love - to play music!

June 4
Just wanted to let you all know that I'll be recording in Nashville the last week in June. I'm totally pumped! I'll be working with some pretty cool guys - from some pretty cool bands.
First of all, I'm working with producer/songwriter Jeremy Casella (http://jeremycasella.com/). Jeremy and I met back in 1998 at a conference in Salt Lake CIty. Since then, I've kept tabs on him, and decided to call him on a whim, just about three months ago, now.
I'll also be working w/ Matt Odmark (Jars of Clay), Mike Odmark (asst. engineer on "Redemption Songs" album), Garrett Buell & Any Osenga (Caedmon's Call), and Kenny Hudson - to name a few.
Point being, the next month is going to be super-exciting, and I can't wait to work with these guys. I'm hoping for this project to have some real magic - a spark to it that I've never had before!

College Church in Wheaton just recently asked Jay to perform for their junior high students on retreat at Dickson Valley Retreat Center, in Newark, IL - this weekend! Jay was happy to commit with them, and has written a song just for the group, fitting with the weekend's theme of "Loving God's Commandment to Love."
