Jason Lyles is a rock solo artist currently based out of Chattanooga, TN. Originally from Chatsworth, GA, Jason's musical style is an upbeat mix of powerpop, alternative, and southern rock with an emphasis on rhythmic guitar and astounding vocals. His influences include a diverse range of bands and artists such as Matthew Sweet, Nuno Bettencourt, Better Than Ezra, The Black Crowes, Foo Fighters and the Freddy Jones Band, just to name a few.

Jason's songs are a diverse mix of rock styles. Coming from a wide range of influences, Jason has reined those styles into a unified pop rock sound ready to infect the world with its viral hooks, catchy riffs, and undeniable melodies. Topics of his songs cover many different emotions and situations. From deep themes such as overcoming child abuse (Ethereal), never giving in to defeat (Not This Time), and letting go of negativity (Set it Free), to light-hearted romps about traveling the country (Disappear), saying goodbye to old roommates (Move On), and "gravitating" to ex-girlfriends (Man in the Moon) Jason's songs will ring true and implant themselves in your brain like a kudzu patch that won't go away!

After performing in many regional bands, Jason released his first independent album Shades of Grey in 2003, and he performed at clubs, festivals, colleges and other venues in support of the album. His music has been heard on 96.5 The Mountain, 91.5 The WAWL, Rock 105, 94.3 The X, Talk 102.3, WETS 89.5, WMTS 88.3, DirectTV's The 101, as well as various internet stations and podcasts. In 2007, he released his much anticipated EP, Ethereal to regional critical acclaim. He has performed throughout the southeast in support of this labor of love.

While continuing his solo acoustic work, Jason has now reformed his band into Jason Lyles and the Sonic Avatars, an energetic rock power trio reminiscent of Cheap Trick, The Cars, and Better Than Ezra. With the upcoming release of their self-titled album, Jason and the Avatars will be ready once again to bring their upbeat, caffeine-charged, good-times rock'n'roll to the south and beyond. "...a masterly crafted blend of today's sound and yesterday's emotion, quite possibly the evolution of independent artists."

- The Reaper,Harvest Reaper Promotions

"Chattanooga TN's Jason Lyles is more of a rocker than a power popper per se, but there are more than enough hooks and melodies to make Ethereal an enjoyable listen."

- AbsolutePowerpop.com

"...just a great all around sound."

- J & J Productions, Chattanooga

"Ethereal is a big step forward from 2002's Shades of Grey. Jason's songs have become more distinctive, playful, and emotive. I can't help but be reminded of Steve Miller...who strings together simple riffs sprinkled with psychedelia and modest orchestration to make catchy, hook-filled tracks. Its the kind of record you can nod along to absent-mindedly without realizing you'll be humming the tunes to yourself a little while later."
- Chattanooga Pulse Magazine

"By far one of the more talented people we've had in the studio in quite a while."
- Boner, Rock 105

"I really like the track 'Ethereal.' It's very Beatlesque."
- Oz, 96.5 The Mountain

"Of the three bands, The Jason Lyles Band had the most polished sound. When I first saw Jason Lyles with his curly locks and calm demeanor, I was afraid he was going to be yet another John Mayer Jr. However, The Jason Lyles Band is a pleasant mix of raw Southern rock and upbeat pop. ...And unlike John Mayer, Jason Lyles masters sincere and sensitive without being sappy."
- Jessica P. Wallin, Concert Review in Enigma Magazine

"Ethereal is Jason's best songwriting to date."
- Bob DeHart, Ready or Not Entertainment Services

"Jason plays guitar like Derek Trucks."
- Billy Flood, Waving at Strangers
