BLESS OUR BURNING HEART: released May 22nd, 2007
Download - $5.49

"After developing his abilities, philosophies and idealogies during years of on-and-off touring with mid-Michigan indie rock elitists, The Last Broadcast, Jacob was left to find himself as a different kind of songwriter in a different kind of place. Following years on hiatus that brought marriage, college and maturity, Jacob has emerged as one of the most profound and gifted performers in the midwest. Challenging listeners to be moved, thinking and introspective, he gives us his soul and spares us the gimmicks; an unfortunate rarity in music today."
-Jerrod Jordahl

I just finished my taxes online and completely free. The return should be deposited into my checking account within a couple weeks. Direct your web browser to TaxEngine.com. It's free for federal tax returns and a bunch of state returns including Iowa and Michigan. Most sites offer free federal returns and then charge you for the state return. Do not be duped. It's also surprisingly easy to use.I have a philosophy class at DMACC and we've been hammering away at the question of "is it reasonable to believe in God?" and it gets hard to have the only informed Christian view on the subject in the class especially when the teacher is Agnostic and loves to hate God, (if He does exist) as it would seem. That's been an interesting and challenging class; a natural blessing, even at 8AM. I feel like God has been doing a lot in my life lately. I've become more involved and interested in theology, apologetics, the way God wants us to live, and what His word says to us... etc., lately and the desire to learn more intensified two weeks ago when I was helping my brother with a youth retreat in Michigan. The speaker was one of Joel's professors at Cornerstone in Grand Rapids, and he was able to speak with such authority on biblical matters that I realized that that should be my goal. So maybe 2006 will see me enrolled in a bible school somewhere and making a record (along with getting married).Which brings me to my third point of interest. The wedding is going down on May 19, 2006 (that's a Friday) at Schloss Vollrads (that's a castle) in the Rheingau (meaning "on the Rhein River"), Germany. Here it is.
There are more pictures at SchlossVollrads.de - it's gorgeous country out there. I hope to keep you updated on all this stuff. Remind me if I don't, ok?

Hello faithful readers! As you have all ready noticed, I've posted three new songs fresh from my friend Mike's home recording studio that I recorded just last week. I played everything you hear and mostly in one take. That's not me bragging; you see, Mike doesn't like to "punch in" anything, so I got some practice in while trying to get every take perfect. In the LB they used to call me One-take Jake, and I enjoyed proving myself. Mike has a humble little set up, pro-tools with a ton of effects pedals, (I keep trying to convince him to sell those to get some better stuff; I never was a fan of having a hundred mediocre pieces of equipment, I'd rather have a few great pieces) a couple mixers, and some mics, nothing fancy at all. Oh, except for the fancy sound booth thing he built. haha. Mike is also a phenominal cook, that's what he usually does for a living, but for a couple of days we both got to pretend that we were viable music industry cronies. Let me know how you feel the songs turned out!
