A lot of bands hope to make you dance lately. Its Like Love doesnt hope, they do. Melding infectious pop with complementing synth, crowds cant help but sway back and forth, jump up and down, and bob their head to the beat. And its a hell of a lot more fun than the National Anthem, the song that brought the band together after hearing singer Jeremy Rondeau sing the country's song at their highschool homecoming football game. Things really started to pick up for the band, when Rondeau, drummer Nick Cox, bassist Jon Guerrero, and synth player Brad White, decided to follow the Vans Warped Tour for six days. Selling over 500 copies of their current EP, Everything You Wanted to Hear, in less than a week, the band knew they had something that was ready to hit the road full-time.
Watching the guys joking and laughing around their merch booth after a show, one would never guess that Its Like Love take their job so seriously. Every member, including newest member and guitarist, Mike Faulkner, makes a point to be there and they dont leave or pack up until theyve talked to every fan, learned their name, and signed whatever it is theyve bought or brought to be signed. This is their career, and they approach it just like any nine-to-fiver would approach a day at the office, except with a lot more passion and love for what they do. Its that work ethic that has helped them get on tours with A Change of Pace, The Classic Crime, Danger:Radio, and Brighten. Its that dedication that kept them going even after a devastating roll-over accident while on tour in Montana that sent two band members to the hospital, totaled their van, and crumpled their trailer like a soda can. Living the rock and roll band life can be serious stuff.
But serious is probably the last word that comes to mind when these guys are on stage or just hanging out in their hometown of Glendale, AZ. These best friends have known each other since high school or younger and have formed quite the little family of brothers. Most people would want some time alone after living in a van with the same four other people for months at a time. Not Its Like Love. Coming home just means more time to hang out with each other, perfect every aspect of the live show, develope the bands online community, and come up with ideas for next tour. It also means time to write new material. Always excited about a new song that makes even the band dance along, ILL heads into the studio every few months to demo a couple new tracks. Fans check out the bands Myspace and Purevolume pages compulsively, hoping a new song will be posted soon. Labels have been showing response to the catchy melodies for a while now, but the band chose to wait to sign until they had developed their sound, stage show, and themselves.
Theyve developed quite a bit. Selling over 5,000 copies of the Everything EP online and on tour, the bands has a growing fan base across the country. Tour and shows at home have had them sharing the stage with The Format, All Time Low, Vendetta Red, Bayside, Waking Ashland, Daphne Loves Derby, My American Heart, June, This Day and Age, Goodbyetomorrow, 18 Visions, Bullet for My Valentine, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, National Product, Quietdrive, Never Heard of It, and more. Its Like Love are now ready for whatever the music industry throws at them. Making music is their life and they are happiest out on the road. They are committed to working for every bit of success they get. Making young girls scream is just part of the fun along the way.
