Ignotus is a hair thrash melodic metal band from Panama. The musical style of the band has elements like a mix of melodyc voices and powerfull growls in the choirs, loud and amazing guitar riffs, influenced by bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Sepultura, Alice in Chains and Heroes del Silencio, among others. The word "Ignotus" is a latin word that means "unknown" and represents the underground spirit of the band member's way of thinking, and the fact of making music from the heart and guts, not just of being popular,sell outs, comercial or mainstream, and thats the goal of the band: the integrity of music.
Ignotus was born in 2000 when two cousins, David (rithm guitar and lead vocals at the time) and Joseph(lead guitar) both woke up in a morning with the idea of making music way different than most of the people are used to listen in Panama. After a few musical ideas and a lot of practice, they assembled the first lineup of the band, including Victor Castillo (also former member of the alternative rock band F...kstars) on the bass and Arturo Wong on the drums and went to Porkshop Studios to record the very first single of the band called "Pesadilla". The song was heard in rock radio stations and received good reception for a young band in Panama's underground scene. After Victor and Arturo left the band, David and Joseph performed with some other local musicians , and finally along came Camilo Broce to play the rithm guitar, former instrument played by David, and eventually, came Oscar Mendoza to do the drums and Samuel Tejeira to do the bass. With the three new members, Ignotus released "Laws of hell", single recorded at Constantino Castro Studios. It also became the very first videoclip of the band, seen on tv rock show "Rocktambulo" of +23 channel. In addition, Laws of hell were several weeks in top 5 charts of the radio show "Voltaje 3". Just a few days after the shooting of the videoclip, Samuel left the band for no reason, leaving the lineup with four members: with David on lead vocals and bass, because they were not able to find a new bassplayer, Joseph and Camilo on the guitars and Oscar doing the drums. After a few gigs with such lineup, and then not qualified to finals in the battle of bands of panamarock.com in 2007,Oscar and Joseph left the band for personal reasons, and Ignotus became one guitarrist band, but still with the same spirit and will of making some metal noises. Now Camilo plays the guitar,as well as he does backing vocals, David plays the bass guitar as well as he is the lead singer and Hilderarn is actually the brand new drummer.
After a few years of absence in the rock scene of Panama and with the colaboration of a local drummer, Ignotus released their brand new single called "You don't miss me",recorded at Constantino Castro studios, with more melodies in heavy riffs and new vocals arrengements, becoming the new style of the band.

Ignotus es una banda de thraxh Metal melodico y greniudo originaria de Panama. Su estilo musical destaca por una mezcla de voces melodiosas con potentes growls en los coros, guitarras "bullangueras", e interesantes fraseos con influencias al mejor estilo de Metallica, Megadeth, Sepultura, Alice in Chains y Heroes del Silencio, entre otros. El termino Ignotus es una palabra en latin que significa "no conocido",y cuyo nombre representa el espiritu subversivo en la manera de pensar de sus integrantes al no querer venderse a la "cultura oficial", las tendencias del momento y a la moda para ser populares, sino hacer musica cruda y verdadera desde las tripas y el corazon. La banda tiene su origen en noviembre del anio 2000 cuando dos de sus miembros, los primos David (guitarra ritmica y voz) y Joseph (guitarra lider) despertaron una buena maniana con ganas de hacer musica un tanto distinta a lo que se acostumbra a escuchar en la escena de rock de Panamá. . Ignotus despues de algunas ideas musicales y bastante practica, logran armar su primera alineacion con los primos David y Joseph, Victor Castillo (ex f...kstars) en el bajo y Arturo Wong en la bateria, y empieza a tener cierto exito en las emisoras de rock de Panama (Radio 10, Voltaje 3, etc) y buena aceptacion del público underground gracias a su primer sencillo "Pesadilla" grabado en los Porkshop studios y posteriormente con "Utopia", su segundo sencillo, ademas de tocar en los bares de la localidad. Al final, despues de la salida de Vitin y Arturo de la banda y luego de probar con varios musicos de la localidad, entra Camilo Broce a la banda a tomar el puesto de guitarrista ritmico, dejando a David solo en las vocales . Posteriormente,entran Oscar Mendoza tomando el puesto de baterista y Samuel Tejeira en el bajo, con los cuales graban el sencillo "Laws of hell", el cual dicho sea de paso fue el primer video de la banda, que se vio en +23 en la programacion de Rocktambulo.Cabe tambien destacar que dicho sencillo estuvo varias semanas entre los cinco mas pedidos en el programa de radio Voltaje 3. Justo despues de la filmacion del video, Samuel deja la banda sin razon alguna, dejando a la banda como cuarteto: con David en la voz principal y el bajo, a falta de bajistas, Camilo y Joseph en las guitarras y Oscar en la bateria. Despues de un par de presentaciones con dicha alineacion y la no clasificacion a la final del concurso "Panamarock nuevas bandas" en 2007, Oscar se sale de la banda y posteriormente Joseph por razones personales, quedando Ignotus con un solo guitarrista, pero aun asi con la misma disposicion, ganas y capacidad de seguir haciendo buena "bulla" y buena melodia. Ahora entra a la banda Hildergarn como baterista, llenando las mas grandes espectativas de la banda.

Despues de anios de ausencia en la escena de rock de Panama y con la colaboracion de un baterista local, Ignotus ahora ha lanzado su nuevo sencillo titulado "You don't miss me", con una serie de arreglos melodicos en los fraseos de las guitarras en las estrofas y nuevos arreglos vocales, caracteristicas del nuevo estilo de la banda. Pueden pedirlo en el programa de rock Volaje 3 en la frecuencia 93.5 FM de lunes a viernes de 8 a 10 PM, y ahora, pueden escucharlo en este sitio.
