A band united by blood, literally, because of the 3 and almost 4 brothers in the band coming from the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. Juapi the guitarist, Tuti the singer, Luis the drummer, and Jean the bass player who is almost a brother, all ranging from 17 to 20 in age. In Dependence has been Juapi's own project since he began composing and has been dormant for a couple of years.
In 2007, Juapi and Tuti began recording an 11 song full-length of In Dependence, all while being active in another local band.
In 2008 with the completion of the album titled "Reflection", Juapi reformed In Dependence with his brother Tuti, and called his other brother, Luis, who at the time lived with his mother in Florida. And with a close friend playing bass with them, In Dependence went on to play Cornerstone Festival 2008 and after that some local shows in Puerto Rico. After a while, the band saw that they needed another bass player, so they parted ways and began searching for a bass player.
In Novemeber 2008, Juapi met a lab partner who played bass, whose name was Jean, and when Juapi told Jean that his band needed a bass player, Jean said he was interested. So after the first practice together, In Dependence was complete.
That December '08/January '09, the band went to Phoenix, AR to play a couple of shows and that trip had an impact on the band members. After that trip, the band decided that it was time for change, time for maturing musically, lyrically, and spiritually. The band changed direction, added samples to their music and made new music that can be categorized as "Modern Rock with Hardcore Elements" without screaming.
And now in 2009, In Dependence comes better, stronger, happier than before. So expect to be blown away at their live shows.
