- HOT ACTION COP's debut CD is a kick in the head from the beginning to the end. The music is comprised of great loud, heavy slabs of funk chords with some change-ups thrown in here and there to make sure you're paying attention, with lyrics more rapped than sung, though frontman Rob Werthner occasionally will break into an anthematic sign-along chorus that will have you joining in even if you don't know the words. Another thing that cannot be overlooked is that these guys are incredibly tight. These guys spent a lot of time on these tracks; there's nothing haphazard here, but nothing sounds like it was phoned in or contrived, either. No; every minute of HOT ACTION COP sounds like they went into the studio with the aim of making the best hard rock CD ever made. HOT ACTION COP will bring you back to hard rock, if you ever left. I can't remember the last time I heard a band of this genre which had such a grasp, such a perfect balance, of energy and dynamics.
