Since the summer of 2003, Holliday has gone through various stages of growth, with both their music as well as their faith. Starting out as only a Christian summer camp worship act, the bands original intent was to just lead worship, and nothing else. This mind set would continue for the next year, and wouldnt really be laid to rest until mid-summer of 2004, when the group finally got around to writing their own material. It was during this time that ideas and personal goals within the group started to be torn down and reformed. Shortly thereafter, the band entered the studio with Jason McEntire (Sophomore, Maybe Today, Destiny's Child), and recorded their debut EP, Even Tress Grow Tired.
In taking influence from bands such as Coldplay, Pearl Jam, Further Seems Forever and Copeland, pigeonholed musical styles and (or) genres seem to be put in a corner. If asked to describe the sound of Holliday, its members would probably shrug their shoulders and mumble something about just being rock and roll. To them, its not about a sound. Its about something so much bigger than that.
Drummer Ross Brand explains it quite well, "We dont consider ourselves a worship band, per se, but the attitude toward our music is built upon the foundation of worship. We feel it is important to not just be a band performing on stage but worshiping as well, and honoring God through playing our music."
With a passionate live show, a slew of newly written songs and plans to go back into the studio in the summer of 2006, it could be safely said that this is still just the beginning.
