It was the winter of 2005 when the first flickerings of the fire known as Hepburn would first spark to life. Driven by the frustration of failed projects and the desire to stand out among the hundreds of bands hailing from their hometown of Boston MA, the band immediately began networking and playing local venues. Soon after, they recorded their first EP The Sleeping Bodies of Strangers and created a local buzz. EastCoastRomper.com described The Sleeping Bodies of Strangers as a whirlwind of powerful but majestic harmonies, sweeping guitar riffs and cadences that change in an almost perfect manor. In the months following its release the band tirelessly promoted and continued to evolve their sound.
In April of 2006 Hepburn joined forces with producer John Naclario at Nada Studios (My Chemical Romance, the Ataris, Matchbook Romance, Senses Fail) to record The Twenty Second Day. Released through the bands website, The Twenty Second Day is an auditory assault of blazing guitars and chilling vocals that has drawn comparisons to bands like Acceptance, Taking Back Sunday, Funeral for a Friend and Anberlin. It has sold extremely well at shows and has had thousands of plays on the bands Myspace site.
Recently Hepburn was chosen as 1 of 15 finalists out of over 5000 unsigned bands nationwide to compete in Verizons Calling all Bands contest earning them recognition across the entire country. They have also been semi-finalists in Alternative Press Magazines Almost Famous Contest which earned them a feature during The AP Show on XM Radios Fungus Channel. In 2006 Hepburn played the NEMO music festival in Boston and M.E.A.N.Y. Fest in NYC, as well as performed at countless popular venues across the Northeast. They have shared the stage with a variety of national acts including Gratitude, The Panic Division, City Sleeps, Skid Row, Suicide City, The Spill Canvas, Flickerstick, Love Hate Hero, Hand to Hand and The Fully Down, as well as many well established local bands.
Currently Hepburn has been diligently writing and rehearsing new material in its Brighton, MA practice space. As for 2007, it will certainly prove to be an exciting year as the band plans for a number of surprises including a new recording and some amazing shows.
