Headrush is a rock band choked to the point of strangulation with melodies, backed by razor sharp guitars, blood-pumping bass and heart-stopping drums. Their music grabs listeners on the first note and locks the music into memory. When they take the stage the energy is high while their songs hit you like a musical hammer. They scream at you one minute, leaving you to try and catch your breath to be prepared for what comes next.

Headrush is led by charismatic frontman Waymon Boone, formerly of Splender (Columbia Records), whose debut album, Half Way Down The Sky included the hit singles "I Think God Can Explain" and "Yeah, Whatever. Boone's dynamic vocals and emotional lyrics create the songs that are the driving force behind the band.

Boone stated, "It all started with the songs and then became something more. The music is real and intense. Lyrically, I don't think I could have been anymore truthful about how I feel about my place in the world if I tried."

Intensely, aggressive drummer Mike Johnston, formerly of Simon Says (Hollywood Records) propels the energy of the music with a booming backbeat and sonically stunning bassist, Allison Johnson controls the low end, taking the sound over the edge with her relentless raw energy and timeless talent.

In the spirit of self-sufficiency, Headrush recorded their debut album, "Weight of the Water in their own studio in their hometown Sacramento, California. Boone, who produced, engineered and recorded the album, said "We recorded this entire record in a small bedroom, on our own in Sacramento with no deadlines and no one looking over our shoulder. For a rock band it doesn't get any more real than that."

Headrush brought in the world-renowned, Mike Shipley (Green Day, Aerosmith, Nickelback) to mix Weight of the Water. Shipley had previously worked with Boone on a previous Splender album and was excited to lend his hand to Boones new project.

"Mike Shipley is a great person, as well as an amazing mixer with a great ear. I couldn't have asked for a better person to work on this record with us. stated Boone.

The band hasn't spent all of their time in the studio. They have played shows throughout the West including historic venues such as The Viper Room and The Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles as well as Slim's in San Francisco, Crest Theatre in Sacramento and SXSW in Austin, Texas.
