On Music: God bless my music-loving father for introducing me to Hendrix, Van Halen, Zep, Genesis et al, at an early age (in fact, the story goes that my father actually had my mother sit next to the stereo while she was pregnant, blasting Hendrix so their, as yet unborn child might experience the Experience). Acoustic guitar in tow my 10 year old inspiration was born of the fire breathing, "demonic", theatrics of KISS, like so many others. So, this guitar thing really wasn't all that important to me until sometime in high school I realized, "yeah, I play guitar", was like Spanish fly to high school girls. Bonus! Well, soon enough, guitar and music became it's own reward, and I just couldn't put it down. Then, this guy Yngwie showed up to slap everyone around and changed everything. Paul Gilbert followed, and all of the sudden, it was clear, I wanted to push the envelope with my music/band/creativity too. But, a tomanynoteplayin' guitarist alone, dose not a band make. Let alone a "good band". So the quest was under way for the perfect compliment of skill and chemistry in band mates, and after much work and trial, our current incarnation was thus. Hopefully, along the way, I learned better how to write a song for it's own sake, and not as a vehicle for solos. Obligatory, they are notbut I still love to play. Now my inspiration comes from everywhere, jazz, fusion, techno, you name it; but ultimately: songs rule. On the long wait for album 2: The wait is almost over, and a third album is waiting in the wings. For the past 4 years I worked at Guitar Center, first in sales, then for the last 2 as a store manager. It took all of my time and energy, and was very rewarding, but the cost was creative energy and time for the band. That is over now, and thus the record is done. I think you'll agree, it's worth the wait. Equipment: Ibanez cst 7 string with flame top Ibanez universe (original issue) with Greg Kurbow neck and custom pickups.
