Vince Mullins Bio

From a very early age, I knew what I really wanted to do, sing. I was able to carry a tune, so in High School I started a band. As gay as it may seem, we called ourselves Sacred Heart. We used to practice In the service department at my dad's dealership. You want to talk about reverb. After that, two of us decided to create a heavier band. We had a few names, that I won't discuss, but mostly drank beer and rehearsed in my drummers' living room. We were supposed to open for Tommy Lamey at Dallas City Limits (I have no idea what year that was), but the club decided to drop us a week before the show.
Soon after, I moved to Denton. I answered an ad in The Harder Beat for a singer. I showed up, showed off, and got the gig with Gear. After about a year of that crap, I joined Gravity Pool. Dave, Evan, and Zue.those were the days. We practiced about four or five times a week. We played at least once a weekend back then. The scene was really kickin at that time. If you were a heavy band, you could play just about anywhere. Derek Taylor called me out of the blue one day and asked me if it would be allright to give Eddie Head my number. Weird enough, I had already been a fan of Haji for quite a while. I worked for my predecessor, Eddie Ellis, at Custom Assembly even before I moved to Denton. It was very awkward to be in that position. I considered Ellis a friend, but was assured he would be replaced regardless. I went to [Eddie] Head's house, he played some of the new Haji material for me, I made up some lyrics, and was hired on the spot. That's how the story goes
Lately, Eddie and I have been writing our asses off. We have recorded seven new songs in just a few months. Our music has, what I believe, caught up with the times. Shit, I think that we are creating something that is like nothing else out there. Let's hope the big guys think the same.
