US fans order our new CD Las Armas Del Silencio here
GREEN LIZARD is a well established rock band from The Netherlands. Founded in 1994 as teenagers they almost immediately secured themselves of a large and loyal fan base in their hometown Tilburg. Thanks to their enigmatic live shows and extensive touring Green Lizard built up a solid live reputation throughout Europe, played the Vans Warped Tour in 2003 and even did shows in South America.
In May of 2006, Dutch rockers GREEN LIZARD saw the release of their third record on I Scream Records in Europe. The album is called Las Armas Del Silencio and features 10 solid rock songs which are the best the band ever did. Together with its great artwork, this record is already considered a classic in the history of GREEN LIZARD.
The new self produced album was recorded by Menno Bakker (NRA, Undeclinable) and Alejandro Londoo (Agresin), mixed by Clif Norrell (REM, The Pixies, Rollins, Faith No More, Mansun, Jeff Buckley) in Los Angeles and mastered at John Golden Mastering. Singer Remi about the recordings: This was definitely a new experience for us. By recording in different studios and with different people, we got the best of both worlds in this recording! Although it was extremely fun to produce it ourselves, it was a lot more work than we anticipated and we couldnt have done it without the help of Menno and Alejandro. Of course, after recording two previous albums with a man like Clif taught us a lot about making a record.
GREEN LIZARDs previous albums were put out by Sony Music and sold more than 22.000 copies just in the Netherlands. Singer Remi: 'We never planned on signing to a major but our label got bought up by Sony Music. We sold pretty well and the last record 'Newborn' was supposed to be a European Sony signing but that never happened. We get offers to tour in Europe and the States all the time, but we never had a release there. This time we decided to find a label that can get the record out in all of Europe.'
The future looks bright for the band, a new release, distribution in all of Europe and the shows are lining up. Remi: 'We are definitely ready to rock! We are very pleased with our new record, it just breathes rock. I Scream is also very enthusiastic and we have short lines with them so I think we can do what we want to. This time we wont get caught by a big machine like we were in the past. I know that they have a lot of hardcore bands on their roster but I think we fit right into their work ethic'. Time will tell, but the new record sounds awesome! It's time that the rest of the world will get a taste of this great rock machine!
After a great performance on the mainstage of Sziget festival in Budapest, Green Lizard hit the road with Skin (ex-Skunk Anansie) during her European tour fall 2006 which was a great succes with lots of new screaming fans. Plans for 2007 include a European support tour with BuckCherry (US) and lots of European festivals befor hitting the studio again for a new record. At this moment, the video for the single Walk Over Water is on rotation at European MTV and other music channels. Las Armas Del Silencio will be released on the 13th of March in the US by I Scream Records USA.

US Reviews Las Armas gets really good reviews in the US press:
http://www.decoymusic.com/index.php?content=reviews&reviewid=22602&oldreview=0 How many years do you think the current girl pants wearing trend has left in it? My guess is maybe one or two before the next fad hits and takes over. Who knows what it will be? Its easy to remember when biker chain wallets were all the rage with metal kids or when Airwalk and Vans were the only shoes trendy punk kids could be found sporting. There was even a small window of time where pink was the color you would wear (pseudo-ironically) in hardcore circles. Just like fashion, music is very cyclical. The 90s saw metal falling into the background as grunge exploded onto the airwaves and politic al punk mesmerized the counter-culture. Before too long nu-metal struck a chord with the Nascar crowd and dominated every rock station in the world while pop-punk took up a strong second place in the ears of the kids. Today it's all about metalcore with post-rock making a surge in underground circles. And who knows what will be the predominant styles next year?
All of these disparate genres have had bands playing in them over the last decade and a half, but the quality and popularity have often waxed and waned based upon popularity. Because of this, when a stellar record from a lesser listened to genre came around, it stood out so much more than the next big release from the fad of the day. Right now the political punk genre has been pretty untouched outside of last years Rise Against and Strike Anywhere releases. Its probably because of this that Las Armas Del Silencio manages to grab your ear and not let go.
Upon hearing the opening licks of Save Ourselves youll find yourself awash in the aura of Boysetsfire, and just to be clear Im talking about the classic Boysetsfire era not the crap they put out and called The Misery Index. Throughout the album youll hear many throwbacks to the rock oriented spectrum of the late 90s and early 00s political punk sound. Pointing out the rock orientation of the band is not something to be taken in passing as the band has a firm polipunk attitude and many songs crank up the tempos, but for about half of the album the band approaches songwriting with a straightforward rock mentality.
With that said, the diversity on this album is what makes it so appealing. The guys in Green Lizard can shift gears from a galloping Billy Talent styled tune (Bullets are for Everyone) to a radio friendly, quasi-Rise Against composition (One Minute) to a non-clich punk ballad (One Last Kiss). Its obvious to see that the 12 plus years this band has been together has benefited their ability to create interesting songs in a genre that can sometimes lack creativity.
Listening to this album and then checking out what the popular Alternative Press bands currently are leads you to one stark realization - any day now we should be seeing the ousting of metalcore from the MP3 players of todays scenesters, and when it happens, lets hope that polipunk can at least makes its way back into a small bit of the limelight it used to occupy because it is long overdue for a resurgence. Green Lizard are ready to lead the charge with Las Armas Del Silencio, and there really isnt a better album to give political rock and punk the surge it needs than this one. --Rick Gebhardt
http://www.skylinepress.net/review486.php Green Lizard's "Las Armas Del Silencio" draws influences from Hard-Rock and what seems like early Grunge Rock. Instead of completely biting from their sound, they manage to make it their own. The beginning of the album does a great job drawing you in with its attractive sound.
http://www.smother.net/reviews/items/punk/1164/Green_Lizard-Las_Armas_Del_Silencio.php The Netherlands is where you go to escape the doldrums of realityhash bars are common and legal, the Red Light District is inviting, and the club scene is off the hook. But who would have thought that 's darker corner also boasts a rich punk scene? Green Lizard is one of those contributors to that scene and on their latest album they drug you with energetic pop-punk hooks, alternative rock chords, and majestic vocals all entangled in frenetic guitar assaults.
We are happy to announce that we have a new drummer! His name is Jasper Dankaart and he has been a friend of ours for a long time.
