NOTE: For an optimal experience, I highly recommend headphones.
- So, first there is The Sun Sets, part II. The sound is very indicative of what listeners can expect from the rest of the album--albeit with the distinctive differences between songs (so you all won't have to listen to different iterations of the same theme for fifty minutes). As for the lyrics, the events of this number occur simultaneously with those in part I; "He passes another, but this one doesn't stop" refers to the fact that the individual here, on his way to suicide, passes the gentleman from part I on the stairway. Are they two different people? Are they representations of varying aspects of one man's psyche? Is one the truth, and the other purely imagined?
- The next piece, She Gave You ..., is a very dark song about an overbearing mother--something along the lines of the mother of the main character of The Wall. It's very similar to The Sun Sets, part I as far as composition goes, but features different lyrical styles and a more complex arrangement (in my opinion, of course).
- Following this, No Chords Will Play features the best chorus I have ever written, in terms of both lyrical impact and sound. This is certainly the more "emotional" side of my writing, but it's also a nice break from the sounds of the previous two songs.
- Finally, There's a Reason this Song has a One Word Title also provides a different sort of sound, as well as a drastically different approach to arrangement (there's no chorus!). I particularly like the intricacies that play out between the lyrics and the title, but that's just me :P
