As far as rock bands go, GrandEvolution has done it all. After constantly touring the NorthEast region, from Portland Maine to NY City and back again, theyve logged over 250 shows in their 5 years together. With constant trips to Boston and Providence in order to refine their live show, theyve played at some of the most famous clubs around, including CBGBs and The Continental in NYC, Webster Theater in Hartford CT, The Middle East in Boston MA, and many more. The band has opened for national acts such as Soul Asylum, VAST, Kay Hanley, and many others. Performances on local radio stations including WAAF Boston and WHJY Providence have helped to solidify the bands hold on the local scene, and tour dates at rock festivals and fundraising events have helped to put the band in front of diverse audiences year after year. The most recent release entitled If You Only Knew (2006) charted on the CMJ charts and was played nationwide on college radio. A music video for Star helped push this albums sales on Itunes, and got the band some attention on MySpace and other online audio/video exchange sites such as Youtube, Napster, and PureVolume. The band plans to release their fourth effort All We Have Is Now early in 2008. Having worked with a variety of people on the production and engineering, the result is impressive. The recording showcases songwriter Sarah Kolletts mesmerizing vocals and a solid backup band. From start to finish, they bang out catchy, guitar-driven rock tunes. Perhaps Kollett got some inspiration from her own misfortune; the bands rehearsal studio burned to the ground in July of 2007, and they lost all their equipment. After recovering from the loss, they picked right up and cut the vocals for most of All We Have Is Now. Throughout the record, hints of the strain and struggle appear and leave the listener with a feeling of desperation. However, the theme of the record plays out in dramatic fashion over a solid hour of rock.
