Goodbye Congregation is without a doubt far too punk for country, too country for Blues, too blues for metal, too metal for hip-hop, and well not hip-hop at all but but they promise they will find a way to work it into their sound as soon as they figure out how. The "biology" of their songs is rooted in traditional country music and hymns, while the "spirit" of the music is informed by a rock aesthetic. The result is songs that are for all seasons, and damaging reasons. If you are looking for songs to soothe the soul as you recline in your living room surrounded by your closest friends those songs are here, but If bouncing around the bar four sheets to the wind is more your style then you can find that here as well. It's all here.
Goodbye Congregation formed in October of 2005, and recorded these Demos one week later in a spare bedroom of Bobby Harris' trailer park home. They are now hard at work in the studio recording their first full-length album titled Olive Hill Fiction. The album will be relatively self-released on Angry Heart Records, a small company formed by Bobby Harris and Filmmaker Bruce Parsons. Parsons is also currently filming a short documentary of the band titled Hard Earned Sins to be released spring of next year.
Bobby is the principle singer/songwriter for the band. He has also played guitar and sang for such seminal unknowns as Fun in Dysfunctional, Bobby Harris &The Goodbyes, and Broken Son. Greg Lawson performs the role of Drummer with the same skill and fervor as he did for the bands Safecracker and Bobby Harris and the Goodbyes. Jason Barker lends skill and damaging energy to the band crafting stealthy leads that enhance to the songs to the point of ecstasy, Formerly, he played guitar for Redbank and Bass for Bobby Harris and the Goodbyes. He now adds his guitar expertise, filling out the sound that could only be Goodbye Congregation.
