With guitar-driven choruses and groove-laden verses, Geno produces smart pop/rock tunes that herald back to the rock music of their upbringing. Bands such as the Foo Fighters and Weezer inspire Geno's brand of "Grade A Rock Music". The band's consistent, punchy sound is the result of Alex Gaynor's emotional yet carefully considered songwriting topped off by the essential contributions of the other members. Mark Brozek's stellar harmonies on vocals and guitar are a key part of Geno's sound and often amplify the emotional peaks of songs. Geno's rhythm section of bassist Will Cady and drummer Dan Adams make their voices heard with wonderfully intricate lines and potent beats that heighten the power of songs without getting in the way. Their occasionally funk-esque grooves pulsate in the background of Gaynor's tight pop songcraft. His lyrics, always grounded in personal experience, sharpen the impact of Geno's songs by either enhancing the mood of the music or contrasting it, creating a fresh brand of irony. Often both introspective and accusing, these highly-relatable real-life stories are laced with intense images and imaginative allegories. Taken together, Genos songs become an unswervingly sincere chronicle of self-discovery that is at once hopeful and frightened.

Together since 1999, Geno spent their early years in the bored suburb of Acton, MA. There, the four members of the band grew up together while making music under the name Zen. By the time they were 15, Geno had already attracted the attention of members of Guster and Dispatch. Their relationship with Chad Urmston of Dispatch led to a historic performance at Bostons Orpheum Theater in 2001, where they became the youngest band ever to play the notable venue. Initially, skeptical crew members at the Orpheum were soon won over by Geno's solid live performance that showed talent well beyond their years. After several more years of gigging and constant musical improvement, Zen took the next step to college.

Now in Boston, the band is using the strength of their unique musical brotherhood, forged through seven years together, to energize the scene. Only months into 2006, Geno has already produced new music, a new CD, and, for the first time, they have acquired a dedicated manager. The future for Geno is full of legitimate opportunities for them to take their craft to the next level, and you can count on them to pursue every one.
