Describing the craft of Garrett Brown is no easy task. The music he creates appears as a skeleton of Alt-Folk, but is clothed in ambient elements that hint at layers that exist far beneath the surface of the sounds.
Spanning a wide range of styles and musical elements, Garrett's original songs are often biographical, giving voice to individuals who rarely get to tell their stories. Brown's writing often incorporates allusions from literature and draws from a wide range of personal experiences.
Garrett recently spent four months at an invitation-only artists' colony on Martha's Vineyard where he intentionally focused on songwriting and performance. In addition, he was signed to indie label 450 Records. Brown will be featured on a forthcoming compilation to be released later this spring and will concentrate on recording an EP in addition to touring this summer.
