Gandhis four bandmembers met in their hometown in San Jos, Costa Rica, loved progressive rock and heavy metal, and were misunderstood by their latin-pop listening highschool peers. They released their first CD independently while still in their late teens in 1997, making history and quickly reaching ..1 at radio charts and record sales. Signed to BMG and later Sony of Central America, they continued to release Pginas Perdidas (1999), BIOS (2002), and Ciclos (2004), and have attracted thousands of listeners to their concerts. They have shared the stage with every important band and artist that has performed in Costa Rica, including Caf Tacuba, La Ley, Deep Purple, Los Enanitos Verdes, Jaguares, Aterciopelados, and many others. By many, Gandhi is considered the number one rock band in their country. Now an independent group, Gandhi is seeking a distribution/license deal for the U.S. and Mexico in 2006.

Gandhi es un grupo de rock de Costa Rica, sin embargo con solo escucharlos sera difcil definir de que pas provienen. A pesar de hacer uso espordico del ritmo tambito..', el reggae y el son, su msica es rock, cargado de guitarras distorsionadas y ritmos y bateras que hacen mover la cabeza por dentro y por fuera.

Inspirados en grupos britnicos como Pink Floyd, los Beatles, y Queen, y por bandas latinoamericanas como Caifanes y Soda Stereo, Gandhi hace rock progresivo y melodico mientras mantiene sus raices latinas. Con sus letras Gandhi tiene la capacidad de transportar, hablando de lugares imaginarios, colores y sensaciones abstractas, y nunca literales.
