Gammak meaning a tonal embellishment, a grace- A note with a touch of the preceding or the succeeding note.

The band is inclined towards the eastern classical aspect of music and hence took up the genre of fusion. This troika did their first song KOI BAAT KAHO and the members realized that theyre an enormous force together.

Babar and Usman (the vision fey of the band) were equally keen on Sufism and mystic poetry. On the other hand, Shahzaib, the guitar player for the band joined the stream on gathering inspiration from Babar, who had been practicing vocals with professional musicians.

Usman Rafique provides words to Gammak's melodies. For him, the essence of Gammak is underscoring what the band wants to. The words me or him are seldom used in the lyrics of the bands songs because Usman's philosophy outdoes the two words. According to him, the bands efforts go perfectly with the mood and genre of the band and the trio provides a perfect amalgam for what the band wants to portray. Basically inspired by Sufism and spiritualistic movement, his lyrics speak for themselves. With the basic inspiration of direction, Usman Rafique and his fidus Achates Usman Qadeer have also experimented with the first video of Gammak which did reasonably well and hit the indian charts. Tagged under thier Own Productions " ElemenTwo" The Duo plan on doing more quality work for Gammak's video's in the morrow.

The vocalist Babar Ali, with inspiration like Mohammad Rafi had to break the chains of many clichs for being a part of the band. Babar has a meticulous taste for eastern classical music. Being a member of a middle-class family, learning music was not easy for him. After two years of practice his throat started giving out melodious traces and he excelled in the art of classical ragas and is still seeking perfection in the art.

The guitar player, Shahzaib Saleem inspired by his brother who had been taking classical vocal lessons and been practicing with professional musicians had never planned to take music up seriously. But the deep fever for music couldnt keep him from joining the Gammak movement and he soon took up guitars. After a few sessions of discouragements, he started understanding the instrument. He still considers himself a beginner and plans on learning more and more about his axe and the genre of the band.

At large fusion bands go commercial after getting appreciation from a certain group and Gammak plans to do the same. But there are very few bands that have a broad purpose behind their music and Gammak claims to be one of them. Exquisite eastern music mixed with western sounds, adorned by classical lyrics that have a whole enigmatic nature is what Gammak is all about.
