GAIAH (guy-uh), a melodic, hard rock band from Springfield, MA, has accomplished an impressive amount since forming in February of 2003. Gaiahs sound, clean ambient metal, as characterized by the Valley Advocate, is achieved only through the sum of its four parts: Tony Danos (bass), Nick Connors (drums), Shawn Santanello (lead vocals), and Jon Zanetti (guitar). With strong hooks, dynamic interludes, and 3 part harmonies, tracks from their recently released full length album entitled Through this Nightmare, have already been receiving airplay on WLZX, WCCC, WAAF, and WBCN. In addition, Gaiahs relentless touring around New England and strong live performances have earned them a Valley Advocates Grand Slam Band Award, which celebrates their musicianship and growing fan base.
What differentiates GAIAH is the bands ability to transcend the everyday norms characteristic of the music industry while still achieving a mainstream sound. Their lyrics have been described as so refreshing in that they are light years away from the stock-in-trade clichs used by far too many. With their intricate melodies, rhythms, and driving sound, Gaiah will thrive on pushing modern day rock music to the next level and beyond.
