A Brief History Of Fun With Guns
For the first ten years of my life I went on thinking what I was told and never questioning as to why I was doing the things that I was doing. Then during one fateful summer in 2004 I found the one thing that I knew I wanted to be apart of the rest of my life. It came to me when I least expected it. Without knowing further knowledge I indulged into the underground music circuit (I was raised on country music for the majority of my life). It was then that I discovered a band called
My Chemical Romance. They had just released their sophomore album,
Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge, and I was shaken at my core by this music. I became a die-hard fan at that very moment and I searched for similar bands. It was during that search that I found such bands that are known today as
Taking Back Sunday,
Rise Against,
The Used,
Paramore,
Panic! At The Disco, and
Green Day. After having listened to all of these bands I became knowledgeable of up-and-coming bands and actually became somewhat of a musician myself. However, the real experience was yet to come.
It was the summer of 2005 when I was approached by a very good friend of mine about listening to his favorite band of all-time. I willingly accepted and that adventure took me to places I never thought I could ever be in my life. I have always been a firm believer in the fact that
Led Zeppelin is the greatest band of all-time, and I love to have some of their characteristics in my music. Having said that, it was just as important, if not more important for me to listen to
Pink Floyd. Listening to that band expanded my imagination and made me a much better musician. Thanks to that very good friend of mine and the Floyd, I have now confidence in a vision that I hope is coherent to those who are around me and love the music that I have yet to create. Since then I have discovered many new bands that I believe have more talent than those who are making money today and have deep roots in the classic rock that I love to death. I have also gotten into some of the old blues that has been a deep influence on some of my family that listen to music as much as I do. So what you get with all of that is going to be a melting pot that will be called Fun With Guns and is hopefully something that you all can enjoy.
NEWS UPDATE!!!
Hey guys, long time no see. It's been a long time since there has been any activity with FWG, but the news that is formulating now promises to be good news. I'm on the constant search to find some home recording software and equipment and I have found some items, but cash supply is low, even in the holiday season. The crappy recording items that I have now will have to do for the time being as I hope to have some demo session takes available for listen in the near future. I have started exploring more and more opportunities to record music as they come to me, but those aren't coming as swiftly as I had hoped. An internship at Saddle Creek Records (label for The Faint and Bright Eyes) was one option in the summer, but I am already going to be heavily involved with things to do in the summer. When developments occur, I will be sure to let all of you know.
This is a rejuvenated Fun With Guns and that rejuvenation is going to spark a flame that hopefully spreads like wildfire. Any more news that occurs, I will be sure to inform you as soon as it happens. Thank you for looking at this page and maybe even being a fan of this little band. Stay tuned for more news.
