Cramming into a van, six best friends from California have come to terms with making the road their new home. In 2009 The Central Coast Pop-Punk outfit known as From The Top set out to conquer the West Coast and ended up reaching further than they ever anticipated.
Known amongst their peers for they're engaging and intensity driven performances, From The Top continue to find ways to cover every square inch of stage each night. "It's our way of respecting the kids who come out to our shows," says guitarist RJ Querfurth, "they pay money to come see us, the least we could do is give it our all." Their all-inclusive live show has become a staple of any From The Top set, bridging respect to and from the fans that's as mutual as blood to the body. "Touring is where we feel most comfortable," says front man Tim Herlihy "and where we have family."
Herlihy sets the tone for a Pop-Punk band about more than just girls, bridging the gap between infectious hooks and meaningful lyrics. Musically the group mixes new and old, turning a page for the genre while still paying their dues to their influences such as New Found Glory, Blink-182, Saves the Day and Rufio. Although the band and their fans seem to be one in the same, From The Top have discovered new breeds of crowds after opening for such acts as Mae, Deas Vail and Jackson United.
In late 2008, all six members (Tim Herlihy - Vocals, Glen Tufuga - Guitar, Stuart Stock - Drums, Robbie English - Keys, Jordan Rabe - Bass, RJ Querfurth - Guitar) packed up to Santa Fe Springs to record a 6 song EP, 'Take Heart'. The disc emerged as a solid album and a true pay off of the bands tenacity and ability (check out myspace.com/fttpop to see the music video for "On Letting Go," the hit single from the record). After touring the EP in 2009, the band that never seems to sleep immediately began work on a new set of demos, recorded by Andrew Wade (Day to Remember, Versa Merge) of Wade Studios in Ocala, Florida in 2010.
As 2010 shows no signs of slowing down, the boys have a 30 state-43 day tour on the horizon as well as making their regular stop at the coveted Ventura Warped Tour for the 3rd consecutive year. And after gaining sponsorships from TRX Cymbals, Shine Drums and Wollyhood Clothing they're discovering that the world wants them as much as they want the world.
