Friction Loss is a progressive new band with members hailing from Canada and Colombia. The Music reveals an internationally diverse range of influences coming together to satisfy an internationally diverse worldwide audience. With influences from Pantera to Paco deLucia, from the Deftones to Carlos Santana, Friction Loss offers a dance between melodic verses and interludes and neck-breaking metal riffs. Guitarist Ivan Reina, and Bassist Carlos Garcia are each natives Colombians, who bring to the mix Sepultura style aggression, combined with the beauty of Latin Melodies. Drummer Trent Herbert (Canadian) drives the message home with a hard-hitting style that speaks to music fans from all ages alike. Vocalist Jason Taylor (Canadian) was recruited for His capacity for Metal aggression as well as harmonic clarity, writing in an esoteric poetic fashion with cultural, political and spiritual content. This Band, indeed, has a lot to offer to nearly any fan of music, and certainly age is not an issue (as Friction Loss diverse fan-base suggests). In a world of increasing diversity and interconnectedness, Friction Loss is sure to be a welcomed mosaic of styles and influences for the international arena for some time to come.
