About the band
Freedom of Infringement, formerly Entheos was created in 2002 by neighbors Asher and Sultan. The two being childhood friends always shared and have had same musical interests. They always dreamt of forming a band someday that could portray their talents. In 2002 after years of practicing they finally started to look for band members with the same vision.
In the search for new band members, Asher and Sultan came across a talented guitarist named Mamoon (a.k.a Mamz), who they heard about through a friend of theirs. The chemistry between the three was amazing, and Mamoon was asked to join the band. He in turn recommended his next door neighbor Fahad, who played bass, and who had played in one of his previous bands, to Asher and Sultan. Following a series of jam sessions, Fahad was inducted into the band and the present incarnation of Freedom of Infringement came into being.
In the summer of 2007, the band changed its name from Entheos to Freedom of Infringement after they learned that the name had already been taken. In August of 2007, bassist Fahad left Sharjah for the US to pursue a degree at Emory University in Atlanta. He remains a band member, contributing to new band material.
Freedom of Infringements sound varies from Pearl jam-like grunge to Iron Maiden-like metal, to Sum 41-like punk, all three of which are evident in Ashers Eddie Vedder-like voice, Sultans and Mamoons metal riffs, and Fahads punk bass lines. The band itself does not categorize itself into any particular sub genre below Rock, maintaining that the band members just play for fun and given that they are still relatively young, their sound can drastically change in the years to come.
