Formed in 2007 by guitarist’s Ben MacFarlane and Sean Rackham , From The Ashes are a metal band with a point to prove. In a scene saturated with over-produced and uninspired bands, the current line up, completed Scott Lyon (bass), Liam Johnston (Vocals) and Aiden Baldwin (drums), cut a thrilling presence as anyone whose witnesses them live will testify. Chaos, broken ceilings, torn carpets, spilt pints, broken limbs, and of course, brutal fucking metal; these are the things you can expect from a From The Ashes live show, and that’s why their second EP “Bless This Hypocracy” is awaited with bated breath.

“Bless This Hypocracy” is not so much an EP, but a document that traces the band’s brutal, unforgiving, destructive path. Written over the last few months since the release of their well received ‘unSCARRED‘ EP, its creation has seen numerous band members come and go, and a variety of all talk-and-no-tunes bands do much the same. One thing has remained the same, however, and that’s From The Ashes’ dedication to crafting the most brutal, mature and creative metal music they so strife to do. A quick listen will tell you as much.

Which brings us full-circle to FROM THE ASHES' "underdog" status in the current metal scene. The band has already proven to be the type that gets kids kicking the shit out of each other night after night. So, is FROM THE ASHES British Metal’s “next big thing?” The type of band that forges the way for thousands of bands to come ?.

The future of metal in general, and FROM THE ASHES in specific, is something of a blank slate at this point. However, one thing is sure – they’ve certainly put themselves in a spot to contend for the title. The only question you need to ask, is where you’re going to be when they finally hit – behind a computer screen looking for new talent, or down the front watching the real thing.
