FORTRESS STRONG

Hardcore / Death Metal

Fortress Strong dropped from its unholy womb into Oslos underground scene in 1995. Their first recordings were crude, offensive, and quickly earned Fortress Strong a grotesque reputation. Their orgasmagoric noise terrorism and off-stage eruptions got them banned from fifteen different underground clubs across Scandinavia within their first six months as a band. Drug overdose and bizarre rituals claimed the life of Fortress Strongs original drummer, Roekgaard DragonFuck Hoegendaar. Replaced swiftly with long-time accomplice in anarchy, Hammerfall, Fortress Strong became a pioneer in European gore-grind/noisecore music. In 1997, Fortress Strong released their first full-length, I Will Fuck Your Mothers Corpse, through their own label. Two 7 splits soon followed, one with Anus Anubis and the other with Guacacunt. After a year of touring in Europe, Fortress Strong decided to spread its sonic brutality throughout the US (recent engagements with law enforcement also played an obvious factor in this decision). Their first tour in the states had Fortress Strong marked as dissociative, psychotic, belligerent foreign fucks (- Tom Hassard, Gore Galore Magazine, Issue 76, Apr. 1998). Most of their US shows were thrown in squathouse basements and anarchist warehouse gatherings, whereas their stage shows consisted of acts of human defilement and profuse obscenity on a level never before seen in a then-delicate America. The second full-length, High Tide With No Arms and No Legs, combined black-metal inspired organs with field recordings of actual murders (sources remain anonymous) over a gore-grind/ambient/noise backdrop, peppered with vomitous leads and nihilistic rants. Fortress Strong began their tour in the states, then returned home overseas to continue. Excessive drug use and self-destruction through bizarre satanic rituals quickly caught the attention of Interpol. As a result, Lucifero was incarcerated on counts of serial arson and involuntary manslaughter, while the remaining three members were placed in another rehabilitation/correctional facility. At the time, Fortress Strongs music had been banned in seven countries and four US states. Members took brief moments to record their third full-length, Death: Among Us, with the help of American recording engineer Brian Morrison, who had followed their political struggle and dedicated his time to continuing their campaign against decency and humanity. The album took 5 years to complete, and most of the recordings were done during brief escapes from correctional facilities. The album was also released in a limited issue picture 12 (artwork from this release became the poster child for a small string of anti-metal campaigns in the UK). Recently, Fortress Strong has been reunited with no holds barred, and is quietly structuring their assault on America from the depths of their decrepit homeland. Their new album is set for release in November of 2006. We are the endbringers. The harbingers of chaos. We will split your skull with our anthems of carnage.
