Fortress is a Christian Metal band led by founder, front man and songwriter Dustin Johnson.
Fortress music style is reminiscent of a different era, a better era, an era when it was about songs and not just brutality. There is as much classic metal influence as there is metalcore. Think Iron Maiden, pre-load Metallica, Megadeth, and Stryper. With current influences such as Trivium, As I Lay Dying, Drop Dead Gorgeous, and Haste the Day. Dramatic song writing with an epic guitar solo in every song.
Lyrically, their writing tells of the savior Jesus Christ, heroism, sojourns and battles of life. Dustin does that as powerfully as tongue or pen can tell it. Part prose, part Epic poetry.
The mighty Warrior-esque Johnson (complete with a curly brunet mane) fronts a storm of long hair, much akin to bands from the golden era of metal. Johnson remains the driving force, main songwriter, and sole original member.
