The band now known as Forthright was started in the year 2000 as five guys messing around in the music room at Emmanuel Christian School in Manassas, VA, which is where the band heralds from. After going through four name changes and numerous lineup changes, Forthright emerged from the hopeless wreck to become the toast of their school.
Some may ask, "Why would four high schoolers decide to start a serious (ie, non-garage) band thir Junior year when they know that they are just going to part ways in a few years?" The answer is simple: message. "The purpose of the band is to spread hope, to spread light, and hopefully bring kids to the realization that there's a better way to live; and that that better way is only in Jesus Christ." says guitarist Peter Fraedrich. Even though the music may not be cookie-cutter, traditional Christian music, the songs still point to a Hope that is available to everyone. To the band, the songs aren't always about saying "Jesus" or "God" or that "everything's going to be all right", but rather is about emotion and connection. It is only when there is a connection made to the listener can you begin to to try to help them out.

new. new. new. new.

hey all, just droppin by to give you a little update-ish thing.

i just uploaded the final version of White Noise to this site and our myspace (www.myspace.com/forthright), so please come listen listen listen listen!
This is the first track from our new CD which we're working on called "A Dying Art for Dying Hearts" and will be available hopefully sometime early nest year...prolly in the late Feb area.

Until that happens, please listen to the 3 songs that we have up and enjoy!

the happenings around the bend

hey everyone, just wanted to update what weve been doing recently around here.

next saturday were scheduled to re-record the trax for our new EP, "A Dying Art for Dying Hearts", and this time it will be done with better gear so it should sound amazing.

Those trax wont be up for a while because we've decided to take our dear sweet time on this one and make it as good as possible.

The EP is slated for a tentative release date of Feb. 24th, 2006; but we'll see how recording and the processes afterwards go.

11/17/05-- Hey everybody, what's up? Djo here just keeping you posted on current events in the life of Forthright (USA). Last week we competed in a battle of the bands at Liberty University. We didn't win, but we came away with some valuable information that will only make us better. In other news, be on the lookout for our new EP, "A Dying Art For Dying Hearts". We'll be releasing it sometime early next year. It will have 3 songs on it, but we chose this format so we could really focus on making this the best it can be. Well that's all for now, God bless..

11/5/05--Hey everybody, what's goin' on....Well we played a show in Lynchburg last week on Halloween. It was pretty cold but we still had a bunch of fun. We're competing in a battle of the bands on Nov.12 at Liberty University in Lynchburg. The show will be held in the Schilling Center, $3 in advance, and $4 at the door. We'd love to see as many of you there as can be to root us on. We're going to begin recording sometime soon and I'm really excited! Be on the lookout for our new EP before summertime next year, it's going to be good. Well, that's all for now, drop us an email and tell us what you think. God bless

10/25/05--Hello Forthright faithful..greetings from Djo. Right now we're in the process of writing new stuff and working out the kinks in our current stuff which is a lot of fun. With the addition of Andrew "Nebraska" Paulus on the keys we are excited about the potential for a more rich, melodic sound. We hope to see as many of you as possible at our show in Lynchburg on Halloween, we're stoked to be able to play. 10.16--Hey everyone, its Sunday the 16th of October. We just got finished playing a slightly sketchy show up in MD, but thats ok. Were starting to gel as the new band now, which is super cool...keep us in your prayers and we'll keep bringing the sweet tunes.-FR
9.30--Been a long while since this thing got updated and such, so here we go. a new demo of a new song is up and is called White Noise. Also, we would like to welcome keyboardist Andrew Paulus (also known as Napolean) into the band! Andrew will be starting his live appearence with us on oct. 16th at My Brother's Place in Waldorf, MD, so be sure to come out and give him a warm welcome!--FR
7.16--Hey all, its been a while since this thing here got updated. We just launched our new bandspace site at www.bandspace.com/forthright check it out when you all get a chance. In other news, we are going to have new merch being orderd soon, and in time for the Aug 20th show in Culpeper, VA...so don't miss it. That day is also the official release day of "Divided", our new studio EP that we self-rpoduced and everything. Some cool stuff in the works pretty soon, so we'll keep you updated._FR
5.8--Computers are wonderful things. Except when they are retarded. Due to some unknown error in the computer at Kinkos, our CD will not be coming out on the 3rd as we had planned. the release has been postponed until further notice. In a way this is a good thing, because it gives us some time to re-master and re-mix the CD, as well as possibly get the artowrk done professionally. Some of the goof-ups and mastering mishaps that were in the MP3's up her have been fixed, and so these songs should sounds a lot better. Let us know what you think. peace.
4.25--Well, today marks the day that the first three songs from our new cd "Divided" are posted up here. Also, its Djo Djo's Birthday...so give him some props on turning 18. peace.
4.17--We just finished up a photoshoot yesterday for the new CD...some sweet pics are gonna be on there. Anyway, we are just nine short days from the release, and I have abutload of mixing to do...fun fun fun. As of right now the demos upare NOT FINAL and 2 of them dont have Djo's parts in them. So please dont email me and tell me that they sound like we recorded in my bathroom--because we did. peace.
4.9--Finally getting the rest od Djo's parts recorded today, so we should have some more demos up with his parts in them soon. Check back for those in the next few days...Peace.

4.1--The CD is almost done, were just waiting until Djo can get over to my house to record the last of his parts. Also, new show dates added in the SHOWS page.
3.20--STUDIO TIME!!! Yeah, as of last Friday, we are currently in studio tracking our newest EP (which is yet to be titled). All of the recording (besides drums) is being done in my basement, so it should be interesting to see how it turns out. We'll keep you posted. Peace.

1.22--Hello world. We just uploaded the CD version of Fragile, recorded live on Nov. 12 at the Elks Lodge in Manassas. Stay tuned for some more news coming soon about a big change within the Forthright camp....peace.
1.12--Hey, i just uploaded a rough production version of "Running Away"...had to take off "Djo Djos Song" in order to do it. Also added photos from the Nov 12 show at the Elks Lodge. peace.
11.14--Starting to get frustrated with this stupid site. Anyway...I updated the music on here so theres now 2 trax to listen to. I might be nice and let you all download one, but i havent decided which one yet. Peace. More coming soon.

11.8--We played VerticalLIVE last Sunday at the Elks Lodge in Manassas (event sponsored by Washington Christian Life Center), which went well. We recorded that night, so we should have a new live CD for sale in the near future. We'll keep you all posted about that as the time draws near. Right now I'm in the process of converting the audio to a workable format and sorting through the 2.74GB worth of audio that we have. Thats all for now...peace.
10.22--New photoshoot for the new name soon, so we'll have nome new pics to put up. Also, we're working on a new bio/info ditty and we'll try to get that up in decent time. Peace out.
