Fueled by musical ambitions, Fisco is a blend of alternative and grunge music with that "garage band" feel. First starting out as a group of friends performing for their grade school talent show in 1999, Fisco has plucked a few weeds from the garden and stood as 2 people: Brian Henning and Brian Ward. Before Fisco was official, Henning and Ward were still in their old band, Urban Disturbance. The lead guitarist got hooked on drugs and alcohol (a catchy song would be written from this experience - "Hit it or Quit It") and the bassist moved away for college. Henning and Ward have always been interested in another local band called Local H. With the aid of a bass pickup installed in his guitar, Henning was able to play guitar while simulating bass notes as well (the bass pickup is angled so that it picks up the low notes from the top 2 guitar strings). With this, they formed their new band, Fisco. The name came out of nowhere with absolutely no meaning. They started to write songs and recorded their first 3-song demo at the Chicago Sound Lab. With demo in hand, they played a few shows in Ward's basement and a few block parties. Since they were completely new to the "local scene" and were used to only playing for their friends, getting shows proved to be a difficult thing. But as time evolved, they became friends with other local bands who have made a name for themselves, namely Triptych and 72 Hours. Their biggest break thus far came with the Emergenza Festival, which is an international battle of the bands type contest. Fisco advanced to the 2nd round, coming in first place at The Note. Their 2nd round did not go so well; they came in 5th. However, the organizer liked their style of music and thought they put together a good show, so he asked them to perform in the 3rd round of the festival. Which leads us to the future...the band is still trying to make it big and trying to get their name out there. It's a difficult task, no doubt, but if you want something bad enough, you won't stop until you get it. As of late, Fisco has taken Jason Menz under their wing to be the much needed third man. New material surfaces every week and someday, there will be a record. But for right now, Fisco is trying to rock hard and rock well.
