The lineage of the FiJ began with Ryan and Bob in September -99 in Calgary, Alberta, back when they were playing cover songs in Ryanâs bedroom. After playing covers for 7 months it was time to get a bassist and write their own material. Nick joined the band in April 2000 and the pages begin to fill.
After endless âaimless thought and many inverted body positions the answer was clear.
A voice spoke out and called, âFiJâ. In the end, the light just turned out to be a JiF peanut butter container doing all the speaking, and possibly a combination of some tequila, but none the less the name had been declared.
In the following 3 years we recorded two demos and one full length entitled Tales from the South East Side. As High School came to an end we had a lot more time to write new material and save up money for a well produced record. And in 2004 we did just that!
The Birth of Gone from Frame came from the basement of Echo Base Studio with producer Casey Lewis of the failure. After over 200 hours in the studio, 25 days of studio time, and endless mixing, FiJ had created their first fully produced album. Released Febuary 18th, and now available on InterPunk, FiJ will be touring Canada early 2006. If all goes well weâll be back in the studio later that year to record a new album.
