FADED CROSSWALKS

Indie / Emo

Good morning... let's get Faded :]

It all started around the time of May 2005 when Linkin Greene asked KC McNulty if he wanted to start a band. McNulty immediately agreed and within one month, picked up drummer Johnny Rollins and bass player Ryan Allen. Before July, the band originally known as "For Fallen Heroes" picked up a very special addition to their band in McNulty's middle school buddy, guitarist Arend VanderKam. The five played music throughout the summer, but broke up due to an extended fued of a drug-related issue.

This break-up left Greene and VanderKam on one side and Rollins with Allen on the other. This was a very complicated situation for McNulty for he was friends with both groups of people. Eager to start a new band, Greene set out to find a new drummer and bass player.

While practicing on Jserra Catholic High School's football team, he met up with Garrett "Chilo" Gordon and talked with him about playing bass for the new band. Chilo then told Greene that he heard one of the football players, Kelly McMinn, could play drums. One sunday night, during the last existing days of the 2005 summer season, Greene, VanderKam, and McNulty went to McMinn's house to try him out as a drummer. The three core members recall they were nervous that McMinn would not be talented enough to play with the experienced members. Little did they know, McMinn felt the same way toward the three... considering McMinn was an extremely talented drummer with 5 years experience. Within an hour, the group played through 9 different songs and asked themselves "Is there anything else we can play?!". It seemed that the four were meant to be and have been playing together ever since.

Chilo missed this first practice, but he came to a later one and fit into his spot as bass player like a missing puzzle piece. After playing with all 5 members, McNulty decided to drop music relations with Rollins and still talks to Allen every now and then. Upon hearing this new band, McNulty also dropped relations with a metal band he was asked to play for and decided to focus on what Greene had started.

The band decided to keep the name "For Fallen Heroes" until one day Greene and VanderKam discovered that it was closely related to the name of an already existing band. So for a while the five musicians (Greene, VanderKam, McNulty, Chilo, and McMinn) were nameless, but that did not keep them from playing. At the beginning of the new year, the band toyed with band names such as: If All Else Fails, More than Memory, and Sound in the Fury. After a while, the musicians grew tired of being nameless and decided to stick with a name Greene introduced... Faded Crosswalks.

Though the band, Faded Crosswalks, has been playing together since late August, they have had little time for practice. To this day, they only practice on Sundays for about 3 hours on average. In this little time, Faded Crosswalks has proved extremely efficient. They have produced enough songs for atleast one full-length album including two songs that will be played on May 6th "Shwankified" and "Everyday", along with crowd favorites "Why Is It" and "Sometimes (I Miss You)".

Also, recent news speaks of the band teaming up with the Disney Channel's Movie Surfer, Josh Uhler to come into the band as a vocalist. Greene talked Uhler into singing in the band around mid-April however, the band is still undecided on whether or not Uhler is ready to perform May 6th.

On May 6th, 2006 @ Jserra Catholic High School, Faded Crosswalks will play their first show ever infront of a fan base whose estimated to be around 100+ people. During the show, the band will be recorded on video by Tommy McClain and Ryan Powell. McClain and Powell will be producing a short, demo-DVD including a couple of the bands songs as well as interviews of the band as a group along with individual interviews of each member. This DVD is expected to be released sometime around the end of May and will hopefully be featured on this myspace by June. Through this DVD, the band is expected to play at local venues this summer including: The Coach House, The Galaxy, Chain Reaction, and Hogue Barmichaels.

Faded Crosswalks has just recently started to become popular with an ever increasing fan base. Their upbeat music and positive vibe are bringing fans like never before. It appears as if Greene's vision, which started almost exactly a year ago, is finally starting to come together in a euphoria of sound. A new summer is coming and alot is to be expected. No one knows what will become of the band, but as long as Greene keeps his vision alive and musicians in tune, you can expect to hear the name Faded Crosswalks alot more often in the near future.
