EXIT BY NAME can be found making one hell of a noise from within the blurred lines that some use to separate metal, hardcore and punk rock. Theyve been unleashing blisteringly brutal yet melodic mosh since 2001. Eyes blinkered to trends, they really couldnt give a shit who your new favourite band is this week. Keep your ears and minds open, this is simply music from the heart.
With hundreds of live shows under their belts all over the UK, they've shared stages with such luminaries as Biffy Clyro, Lost Prophets, Sikth, Walls Of Jericho, Capdown, My Ruin, Boy Sets Fire and Instruction along the way.As one of the leading lights in the thriving Teesside music scene alongside the likes of We Start Fires, DARTZ!, Das Wanderlust, The Hitchers and Stories and Comets (RIP), EBN have been providing Teessides disillusioned music fans with something to shout about.
After signing to Revolver Records in 2003 they recorded their debut album "The Disillusion Is Real" with Harvey Birrell (therapy?, Fugazi, King Prawn etc) at Southern Studios. A rushed job through lack of funds meant an unsatisfied band releasing a rough-and-ready stab at a debut. Depite this, the LP gained its fair share of critical acclaim:
the sort of naturally persuasive rebellion required of music with a message. Certain tracks are truly exciting."Nik Young - Kerrang
Since then they have embraced a satisfying DIY mentality and set out to gig relentlessly and write an album 10 times heavier, 10 times more melodic and 10 times better than the last. An album to be proud of.
Adrift In Dark Waters is Exit By Names second full length album. The drums, bass and guitars were recorded in the analogue environment of Studio 64 in Middlesbrough by Nathan Stephenson (My Favourite Co-Pilot, Spitfire Down, Voorhees, Break It Up etc) whilst the vocals were recorded in a friends bathroom
Available worldwide from June 2006 on Hangmans Joke Records UK. Distro Via CARGO.
