'Eve of Release' is music composed and recorded by Chris McDermott in his privately owned studio called 'Flash Sound Studios'. Studio recording and mastering time at 'Flash Sound Studios' is negotiable, so email inquiries to EveofRelease@gmail.com if interested.
Chris was born and raised in the suburbs of Philly and also lived in Philadelphia for a few years. He started learning to play guitar as his first and primary instrument at the age of 14. Recording experience dates back to about 1996 when Chris was around the age of 16. He and his brother purchased their first multi-track recorder, a Tascam 4-track tape deck recorder that pretty much caused more problems than it helped to cure. They soon realized they needed to update their equipment, since the ideas they had were much bigger than 4 tracks would allow. Chris' brother Russ McDermott then decided to purchase a digital system made by Roland that would allow them much more creative freedom with 8 tracks and the capability to edit audio digitally, which is far more advanced and user friendly then past techniques. Chris made music on his own while also making music with his brother for years using this new recorder, and slowly but surely polished his skills as an "unschooled" recording engineer, but eventually the recorder's limitations were becoming more and more apparent as newer systems emerged. The quality just wasn't meeting expectations, and Russ even commented once that they were "ahead of their time" with their past recording efforts, and so after a few hard years of financial and moral difficulties with substance abuse issues, Chris decided it was time to get with the times. He says he constantly thought about how much he wished he could afford to upgrade their equipment, even when he knew it was impossible with the addiction problems he had. So finally, he made a mental decision to leave the drugs behind and focus on his one true, healthy addiction... Music. He then bought a newer Roland machine that recorded using 24 tracks and has quality so high that it's often used even by the major motion picture moguls. This was far more than they could ever had asked for, so to this day it's the system they use, even while many use computer-based software systems. Chris has commented often that he would rather have a "system with multiple knobs I can physically control, not a single computer mouse I can only move one virtual knob at a time with," and while more equipment emerged that would allow physical "knobs" to be used even with computer based software, Chris still maintains that the Roland does everything he needs it to do. So the music continues, no matter what band name it's listed under. 'Eve of Release' is music made solely by Chris McDermott, and the music he records with his brother Russ McDermott is released under the band name 'the Nine Aligned'. The new album by 'Eve of Release' is set to be self-titled, and the first single is now available on iTunes and Amazon MP3, as well as many other internet music stores. Band members for live performances change frequently, and thus cannot be listed here. Live show dates will be announced sometime after the official release of the first full length album.
