Eugene Songs music is honest, singer-songwriter-based pop-rock, with lyrics that range from heartfelt outpourings of emotion to sarcastic commentary. He gained an appreciation for the art of storytelling through involvement in theater, developed his songwriting and arranging abilities as a music major in college, and cut his teeth as the lead guitarist and co-writer for the Boston-based Francis Kim Band. Eugenes songwriting spans styles from the rock sensibilities of Foo Fighters and Weezer to the laid-back, lyrical storytelling of Keane, Martin Sexton, Toad the Wet Sprocket, and Ben Harper. He also draws influence from contemporaries such as Francis Kim and Kevin So.
Since moving to New York City in 2005, he has turned his attention to recording and producing his first solo EP, Gesture and Mumble. The album features seven tracks spanning the last four years and has a tentative release date of March 2006.
