Ethos began on a patterned portion of dorm-room carpet, where Kevin Brown, a freshman in college at the time, was inspired midst boredom to alleviate his troubled mind. His loyal and trusty guitar became his perpetual catalyst of expression and creativity, as he plucked chords and experimented with melodies while meditating in Indian Style. A year later he would befriend Darius Artiola, an individual with his own defined vocal background, whom he believed would make his rhythm and melodies come to life. Patiently they accumulated a series of songs and decided it was necessary to incorporate some experienced musicians in order to augment and enrich the volume and depth to their aural foundation. The current lead guitarist- Johny Vargas, bassist- Kyle Craft, and drummer- Doug Carroll who all played in numerous bands together joined the duo to form the band Ethos.
Ethos is literally defined as the formation of the spirit of a culture; individually the members started to discover themselves through the coming of age mantra of the college environment. These five men embarked on a musical journey in order to manifest their aspirations and beliefs during the turbulent beginning of the 21st Century. Obviously music is the primary media of Ethos; however, many of the themes to the songs play tribute to the adventures of experimentation, friendship, love and ultimately life. Songs are only songs if they are accompanied by literature after all.
In less than a year Ethos has booked and played over 25 shows in various locations around Tucson, and a few in Flagstaff. The band had two of their songs {Indian Style & Walk with Me} featured on the local music station KXCI, and they have recorded five demo tracks at Wavelab recording studio. Some notable musical groups that Ethos performed with are: Mostly Bears, RCougar, Sunday Afternoon, and Haley Jane. They entertained crowds at various philanthropic events benefiting Race for the Cure, St. Judes Childrens Hospital, and Relay for Life. They will also be featured in their second Club Crawl, Tucsons Largest Music Festival, in October 2009. Finally, Ethos have been working diligently on their current material in order to release a full LP with the working title "For the Common Good" in Spring of 2010.
