101.Skelton (Regina Spektor)

blog post

I just realized that this is my first blog since Wednesday, December 29, 2004, I know, that's beyond procrastination. I just had to tell you about my spectacular week's end. Well, it started off with a little call from a little bar in a Buford, Georgia. Some people I know or people that know me called on Thursday and asked if I could do some shows at their bar, anyways, I won't go into that but I will say "bar" is a fairly loose term. So, made some money, made some friends, sold some CDs, had $5 bottles of Corona and I got to see my uncle, which was a really great incentive in itself.

So Saturday creeps up on us and I have one more show to play and then we were just going to drive into Atlanta on Sunday, eat at the Varsity, get some sushi and drive home. So, I play my show on Saturday night, pack up my stuff and head back to my uncle's for some sleep. Now, while sitting around the house on Saturday Jessica and I realized that REGINA SPEKTOR was in town this weekend to play a FREE (21 & UP!) show in the Piedmont park in downtown Atlanta. So we were like, hell, we're going and Go we did. So woke up on Sunday and my uncle made us french toast and bacon (My uncle makes his french toast with Gran Marnier by the way, it's pretty much like taking shots via bread at nine o'clock in the morning) Then, we drove south to Atlanta, had our Varsity, then road a two hour train only to walk 2 miles and look at little points from a distance and then we had our sushi, called up some friends and headed to the park tavern, which was where Regi was playing. While at the tavern we saw so many South Carolinians, Brandon, J. Reg to mention a few, then, oh then, I saw some of my favorite people in the world, some friends from my old Georgia/Tennessee days. It was none other than Chris Fries and Chris Sitterding. It was glorious. I snuck up behind Twis (Chris Fries), and pushed him quite hard, like bar fight hard, and what started out as a fist in his hand quickly turned into a reunion of old friends. It was so great to see Sitterding that night too. He is one of the greats. So, the drinks flowed and the music was beautiful. We all screamed along with Regina and had a radiant time. Afterwards we met my dear friend JJ for some sobering up food at the Majestic diner. Coffee and cheeseburgers always make good sense at that hour. I'll tell ya, Gin was a good friend of mine that but night but it quickly stabbed me in the forehead shortly there after with a hangover that rivaled brain surgery. So, the moral of this long story is, don't trust well Gin, it's a dirty whore that'll mess you up.

Good night. Love, E. Skelton
