It Is No Longer Dawn

Forget everything you know... And by that sweeping spaghetti-Western statement, I do not intend to condone self-inflicted amnesia. I am merely attempting to build the suspense around what, and of this I am sure, is going to be Elljust's finest offer to date.

Now most of you who know us know that we tend not to take many things very seriously. Especially music. After 5 long years of procastination, sub-standard techno beats and rockstar living (university, lpc and rock'n'roll), we've decided to next level it.

As such, I've found myself revolving inside of Calum's house (and Rikki's studio), confronted by the odd reality that all the ticking and tacking, strumming and picking, singing and humming, drumming and dancing are all actually going to lend themselves to a final product of sorts.

Now, confronted by a collection of a dozen plus songs, we've been sitting around scratching our heads, while Calum grunts in a corner and Rikki feeds us gourmet olives. The idea came slowly at first and then, in a stylish powershot, drenched us with excitement. Following the tradition of the true rock'n'roll kings, we will release an 'album'!

Preceding this great Elljust release, we will dress the talk about the album with words such as 'edgy', 'melodic', 'controversial', 'summery', 'dichotic' and 'impactful'. The latter two might not exist but that's just how rock'n'roll we are.

What we are serious about is hearing back from all you wonderful people. We are all very proud of the noise we've made and would love for you to have an honest listen and enjoy it as much as we do!

Much Love,

Rafe & the boys of Elljust.

Thank you to the people who update our LastFM profile. We don't know how to use it.

LYRICS

Lyrics can be found here. Songmeanings has a tendency to be down most of the time so the lyrics can also be found in the 'Bio' section.

ARCHIVES

"October". Written by: Rafe. Guitars: Rafe & Zayd. Vocals: Zayd. Produced, Mixed and Mastered by Milton Productions.

After a long day of recording and countless hours of shouting for courage, we've got the first mix of 'October'.

Much love,

Rafe & Zayd.

The London Chapter

The entire band has now relocated to London and you can catch us singing your favourite words on open mics and opening gigs around town.

Its That Time Of Year..

April 2004 saw Always In Transition, and April 2005 didn't see much but April 2006 saw the SLG collection and now the pressure's on for April 2007. Not really, but we think its important to keep pushing because eventually, one day soon, someone somewhere will recognise the raw talent that lurks in the lazy waters of Elljust. We're going to be working hard to break strings and drum out a few new tunes in the coming weeks. It'll be like music to your ears.

Nowadays, we're spending nightless days by the northern lights and sleepless hours in the spring fight. What are you doing? elljustonline@hotmail.com for free advice and zodiac readings.

Much love,

Elljust.

NEW SONG

"Something Like Gravity" (Written by Rafe & Zayd, Mixed & Mastered by Kyle Roberts) (Vocals: Rafe & Zayd, Guitars: Rafe, Violins: Shoubhik, Piano: Sami).

We've been meaning to record this one since Easter 2005 and finally got around to it day before yesterday. Mixing and mastering magician Kyle handed it back to us today and we're really happy with how it turned out. Photos of the recording process are in the photos section. The song will also be reviewed and added to the phride.com roster very soon so head on over there too. Watch out for limited radio airplay in and around the Dubai area!

Let us know what you think at elljustonline@hotmail.com.

Cheers,

Rafe & Zayd.

UPDATES

:: 12/11/07 ::

We're grabbing at mics around London in the run-up to December. Hopefully, we will also have the new material done over the Holidays for the new EP, tentatively titled 'Under My Umbrella, Ella, Ella, Eh'. We're going for a Justin Timberlake meets Timbaland sound; something new, something slutty.

Nov 27th @ The Quad, LSE Union.

Dec 1st @ The Duck & Dive Bar, Universtiry of London Union.

Dance, dance.

Rafe.

:: 11/03/06 ::

Firstly, we're playing at the London School of Economics student union bar on the 16th of March and it would be great to see you down there. We'll be plugging in and for those who were there.. it'll be better than Rage 3!

Secondly, how did our demo 'leak' on absolutepunk.net? The forums have been great though so we'll put it up on here for everyone. The only reason we haven't already is because we wanted a better recording with all strings arranged but this can be the 'acoustic' version. Oh, the marketing skills. The track is called 'Something Like Gravity'.

Pimp our ride,

Elljust.

:: 16/11/05 ::

Gigs

@ Royal Holloway on Nov 18th and a return night on Dec 14th.

@ The Sprint Bar on High Street Kensington on Nov 25th.

:: 21/08/05 ::

Finally, we're very close to bringing some new demos online! Check back for free downloads within the next week. The as-yet untitled songs include a demo co-written with Gosho's Zayd.

Also, more of the tracks from Always In Transition have been put on rotation so check back here to download old tracks including the previously unheard version of 'Rememberance' and an old old demo of 'Burn The Bridges... Keep The Pictures'.

:: 28/04/05 ::

What might eventually become our full legnth is now underway. Two new demos are awaiting completion in Dubai so we'll post them up here for everyone as soon as we have them.

:: 26/02/05 ::

Under the guise of Elljust, new material is coming together and we're currently looking for a decent (and cheap) soundboard to plug into in London. If you can help out then send us an email ASAP. Shoutouts to Casey from foreverDOWN (purevolume.com/foreverdown) and Tommy from Between The Buried And Me (purevolume.com/betweentheburiedandme).

:: 31/01/05 ::

Sorry for the lack of updates recently and thanks to everyone sending in the love. And when i say 'everyone' i mean the 4 or 5 people who actually sent something. We're currently being checked out for the 'Absolutely Unsigned' contest over at www.absolutepunk.net so go over and let them know how emo we really are.

:: 25/11/04 ::

With Calum gone off to fight in Yemen, Rikki trying to find his way out of the studio, Tom trying to find his way (just generally), and me being as lazy as I am, this site's gone kinda dead. However, for all those people still sending us our monthly fanmail (there's about 3 of you), we have some good news.

Firstly, the last official copy of the EP was sold the other day. Its doubtful we'll have another pressing so take care of your copy and it might be a rare antique one day.

Secondly, we are in the process of signing up a few gigs in Dec/Jan and once confirmed, we'll put the dates up on phride.com and the 'shows' section of the webpage. The latter is dependant on if I figure out how to use it.

Lastly, and most importantly, the new material we aimed to finish in September looks more likely to start floating around at X-mas. The recordings are of old songs that didn't make the Always In Transition EP and some brand new stuff as well.

Until then, listen to the new tracks up for streaming and let us know what you think. And if you're turned on by the high pitched laughter in 'Seven Years', e-mail Calum at elljustonline@hotmail.com.

Raf.

:: 08/08/04 ::

Summer's almost finished and we're back together. New material heading your way soon.

:: 27/07/04 ::

Summer's delayed things long enough; we're finally getting things together and are going to be starting to promote the Always In Transition EP. Once everyone's back in Dubai, we're waiting to do an EntertainmentPLUS interview so watch out for that. As usual, we're also pushing for radio airplay and that looks promising right now. More reviews and interviews are up around the internet. We're also contributing a track for the Core II Compilation CD but might not be able to play if its pushed into October. Keep checking back for more stuff.
