EARLYTOBED, our five-piece rockgroup from Hammarö (Värmland, SWE) started out in the summer of 2005. There has been steady progress ever since. With the first EP we made, the self-entitled EALYTOBED-EP, including songs like "Without You" and "Obsolete", things really bloomed. We played lots of gigs, mostly in SWE and Norway. We got to play festivals such as Sweden Rock and Arvika and we also went to play in Vancouver (CA) for three weeks.
After ca 1,5 years of solid ETB-time, Dan, our first bass-man, believed that his time was up. It wasnt fun anymore, so he moved to Norway and quit the band. That sucked, but yet it didnt. BJ, our old friend and partner in crime, joined the band. We saluted him and got back on track.
Our second EP, "I'll chase the ache away", turned out to be an awesome collection of songs aswell. Tunes like "Falling Down" and "Forget or Neglect" really rocked and we were proud over what we'd achieved with the new recording. Another year passed by and then suddenly we recieved an email from Bad Taste Records saying that they wanted to work with us. Along with them came Mathias from AgencyGroup, and all over sudden we were on one of the best and biggest booking-agencys in the world. As an unsigned band (we're still not signed) thats somewhat of an achievement.
With two EP's, a bunch of unreleased songs, (ex: "Bending Simplicity" or "Finally, let go" that was only released on MySpace) having played Pier Pressure -07 and opened up for great bands such as Aiden, things started to mellow out a bit. ETB wasn't hot anymore. Suddenly BJ wanted out. He, too, didnt enjoy playing bass anymore. Not much to do but quit.
In the beginning of 2008, ETB was in pause-mode. Stand-by. We felt that we had to do something, something big. So, we announced that Bj was going to quit and that we were looking for a new bassplayer. After a few days we were contacted by our current bass-slapper, Nils Jonas "Ozzy" Holm. He came down to GBG to rehearse with us and it felt totally right from the start. He was (is) freakin' awesome! So we took him along for a gig at the Emmaboda festival and then for an opening gig in STHLM. It was a match, we'd found the new bass-pounder.
So, with this newborn fire, we decided to start recording an album. Our debut-album. We contacted Eric Höjdén, Swedish recording/producing-mastermind who has up until' this day recorded, an co-produced, EVERY minute of music that ETB's ever done, and told him that we wanted to start the album-process. In october -08 one of our biggest dreams came true. We had begun the recording of our first full-length album. With a fresh BTR-managementdeal, the album almost finished and a new love for our band, 2009 started out to be a great year for EARLYTOBED. As a receipt for this, Aftonbladet (Swedish newspaper) announced an article, "Hottest bands/artist -09", where 13 of Swedens finest recordlabels got to vote wich bands that would be flaming hot in 2009. ETB came in on 6th place. Right next to Takida and Kent. In Flames came in on 8th place. Damn, that was a good day.
