Visions and dreams to begin a music ministry with experienced musicians that would "break down the floodgates" was confirmation in a church service for Jenna McCullough, in September 2002. Feeling like Gideon and never having been in a band situation before, her quest to find musicians started in the Praise and Worship group at church. In January 2003, she met with fellow drummer, and former member, Rich Hutton, in a local restaurant to begin the reality of the vision. He suggested that guitarist and former member, Steve Mateuszow, be added to the ensemble. They named themselves, Dunamis, a Greek word for God's annointed power. Having enough music to play wasn't a problem for the group for they all wrote original material. As the song writing grew and so did the band. In December 2003, guitarist, Rick McCullough and bassist, Mark Pearl, joined the group. The group has added drummer, Kevin Hoke in November 2006. In June 2008, the band welcomed the newest addition to the group, guitarist, Ken Landis.
Band members write and perform all their own music from bold rock to smooth blues, soothing ballads that makes a sound all their own. Since their beginning, the unique sound of Dunamis has appealed to people of all ages from children to adults. Their mission is to reach as many souls as possible with the message of God's reality and love for them as shown by His son Jesus Christ.
Jenna McCullough, whose smooth, soprano vocals, can sing the softest ballads to the boldest of rock with a twist of blues. Rick McCullough, has a rich, ethereal tone that gives depth to his sound. His influences of classical, jazz, blues and rock, as well as, his own special effects are incorporated in every song. Guitarist, Ken Landis, whose own melodic and personal sound and style resemble a combination of Eric Clapton and David Gilmour rolled into one. Bassist, Mark Pearl, shakes the ground with his creative combination of jazz and classic rock styles to anchor each song. Mark also sings backup vocals. Kevin Hoke, an intense, self taught, left handed drummer can play like a thunder storm. His specialty comes from classic rock and various international rhythms.
