Our new acoustic ep came out today on itunes, and we'd love for anyone who loves us in the slightest to go pick it up. it's only $5.94, and we promise you are going to love it.
If you could, please pick up a copy of the ep. it's called "on a lighter note" and is one of the things we're most proud of!
thanks to whoever decides to check it out....
"ON A LIGHTER NOTE" ON ITUNES NOW!!!!!!!!

that's right! on a recent episode of NEXT, we had two songs featured - "confetti" and "hold on tight." we're working on getting all the detais from the peeps over at MTV on when it might re-air and any other placements we might be receiving, so we can give everyone a head's up ... in advance
if anyone out there saw it on tv, and might have possibly taped it, holler at us! we'd love to hear more about the episode and possibly even track down a copy of it! apparently it's aired a few times in the past week, but with our luck we've missed every single one.
keep your eyes peeled.
next stop, THE HILLS ;)

so after drawing straws, pulling names out of a hat, and even calling on the power of ra (god of the sun), the four of us have come up with the name that we will call our 3rd ep. this ep will feature 6 dropout year songs - 5 from our past two releases and 1 unreleased song from one of the oldest demos we've ever done.
without any further to-dos, the acoustic ep will be called ON A LIGHTER NOTE and will feature the following songs: Breakin' Bones in ABC Order, Tire Swing Romance, Confetti, Best Friends For Never, A Coming of Age Story, and Beer Tears.
these songs seemed to be both fan-favorites, and our personal favorites, so we are very excited to be dressing them up nice and neat and giving them a completely different vibe (look out for a different voice of dropout year ... it's me).
we don't have an official release date for the ep yet, but it will be in late may/early june for sure. the ep will be coming out exclusively as a digital ep, which means it will be available at all of your favorite mp3 e-tailers online (itunes, napster, rhapsody, amazon, etc.).
as always, we as a band appreciate all the support we get from our fans and friends, so we ask you to please start spreading the word on the ep. we'll have some banners made soon to help promote the release, so we'll be hitting you up to help out.
leave us a comment in this blog thread if you're willing to help promote the acoustic ep's release.
are you excited as we are?
thanks, and love.

a lot has been going on int he past two weeks, and we just wanted to check in and drop the 411.
first off, last saturday (the 23rd) we played a sold out show at st. john's hamilton with some of our buds in the hint (get their new ep NOW), arden, the bigger lights and it was honestly one of our favorite shows of ALL TIME. over 400 people came out to help us celebrate our brosephs in THE APATHY EULOGY's new ep release - be sure to grab that soon if you haven't already, it's baby-makin' music deluxe! from the beginning of the night to the very end, we saw so many familiar faces, and met a ton of news ones, and it was just the thing we needed in this time of transition to reassure us that this is what we want to do. the vibe was nothing short of inspiring, and seeing everyone sing along to every word of our set sent us home with smiles three miles wide. what a night.
this past weekend (29th/1st) we had us some fun shows at st. christopher's in MD and luna bean in NC. friday in MD was a blast hanging out with our man crushes in BRAVO ROMEO BRAVO. bunch of peeps came out and danced the night away. dan c from BRB had just about the worst night known to man, but he wore it well. love those guys! their new ep just hit itunes so be sure to go download it when you're done reading this.
saturday night ... well, WOW! another sold out show, this time in wilson, NC. we love wilson and luna bean with all of our hearts. it's almost like a home away from home. having played there 4 times now, it gets better each time, and this topped it all. we were honored to be a part of our boys in MERCY MERCEDES' cd release party, and it was just that ... sharing the stage with those dudes was a blast, and they are without a doubt some of the coolest dudes we've met on the road, and you should all go say hey to them and tell 'em we sent you. their new ep is out now, and we all are obsessed with it. join the club and get a taste of these dudes before they're the next band that blows up! trust us ... we wouldn't lie. AHHHHHH! wilson .... luna bean ... max ..... william ..... dustin ..... everyone who bought a shirt, cd, underwear, sticker, blah blah blah ..... we love you all. can't wait to come back!!!
the past two weeks have been a blast, and the response to our acoustic sets have been nothing short of amazing. we're happy everyone has been digging the acoustics while we get through this transition. brandon just bought a new acoustic ... it's pretty and black and sounds like the noise angels make after eating a reese cup. definitely stay tuned, we have been writing and can't wait to post some exciting news ... and maybe some new tunes ... very soon.
come to show if we're coming near you any time soon. k? thanks.
with love, thanks and all that shows we care ...

January 27
To our friends and family,
Dropout Year has been a band for almost four years, and it pains us to announce that after over 200 shows and three CDs, we have decided to part ways with our singer/bassist, Adam Henderson. This was a mutual decision between all of us and Adam.
As a band, we have been faced with far too many situations in the past few years where we have had to sacrifice shows, opportunities to further our career, and our personal time and morals ... all of which increasingly tested our tolerance for a lack of dedication and responsibility to a band that means the world to the majority of its members.
We had all made the decision to replace Adam Friday night after being forced to cancel both shows we had this weekend (apologies to everyone at Room With A Brew and Westminster High School) for questionable reasons on Adam's part. After speaking with Adam, he was well aware of the sacrifices we all had made to this point at his hands, and that it was to the point where he was not as dedicated to the band as the rest of us, and in turn was only holding us back from growing as a band, and as people. His actions made our decision.
Adam is a good person whom we all loved and will miss dearly, and it meant the world to us to know he understood the position he had put us in, and that in the end it would be best for every single one of us for us to part ways. Adam has decided to focus more on his life outside of the band, and we feel that is most definitely for the best. He's going to move on with his life and see where it takes him, and we wish him newfound success in every avenue of his life.
The rest of us here at Dropout Year, on the other hand, want to continue living our dream in hopes to be able to soon move to a higher level and be able to do this for a living and hopefully enjoy success stretching outside of the MD region. Of course, we can only achieve this with your support.
This may be upsetting to many of you, but we ask that you please respect our decisions on this, both parties are sure this is in the best interest for us. We also ask for your continued love and support through these especially hard times, while we try to move on and continue making great music in the future, and having the times of our lives. Anyone who knows anything about this band, knows that we are all about our friends and fans. Seeing and talking to everyone at shows, online, around town makes this band tick, and we need that continued love to keep going.
We have already heard many of the rumors being spread, and we want to make it very clear that Dropout Year IS DEFINITELY NOT BREAKING UP, nor are we slowing down. Some people find a way to get involved in a situation they have nothing to do with by creating false statements, and it pains us to even hear some of them. If anyone has any questions, as always, feel free to message us here and we'll gladly address them all.
That leads us to our second announcement ... that we are going to begin searching for a replacement singer and a bassist, or someone who can do both. If you are interested in the position, have professional equipment, songwriting experience, an interest in pop/punk and rock music, and an unmatched determination to make it happen, please contact us at dropoutyear@gmail.com. Serious inquires only!
It is never easy writing something like this, and especially of such a personal nature, but it's one of those moments that we know we can get through. We truly believe in the end, this is for the best and we will be a better band when it's all said and done. As one door closes, another opens.
The word love doesn't cut it, but we love you all.
-Dropout Year
