Funk / Punk / Experimental

" ...sounds like the Red Hot Chili Peppers with a Mr. Bungle enema ...this shit is hilarious ...spastic and funky as hell with all types of changeups that range from funk to metal on the drop of a dimebag."
-Metal Maniacs Magazine
Assailing all within reach of their spastic sideshow, the shape-shifting entity known as DOWNTOWN BROWN have radiated a legend so fantastical only Orson Welles could narrate their biography. Culminating a weird mutant sound through rapid juxtapositions between rock, metal, punk, funk and experimental, DOWNTOWN BROWN has forged a diverse sound that is as fully developed as well as it is broadly enjoyable. DTB has hypnotized thousands throughout the nation with their outright stupidity and nostalgic 80's-cheese-arena-rock live show. Having become an omnipresent high-drawing act in their hometown of Detroit, DOWNTOWN BROWN has long pursued a grassroots mission to unite the eccentrics of the world in an environment where no man shall feel stupid for wearing a giant foam cowboy hat. Their quest has hammered on since 2001, with numerous independent albums to boot, all of which garnered strong reviews from both international and local publications, most notably METAL MANIACS and PIT MAGAZINE.
Their 2002 debut "Moist and Ridiculous" has sold out of multiple pressings, charting highly at many college and independent radio stations and many songs have remained in regular rotation to this day.
They've shared the stage with numerous national acts including ANDREW WK, HORSE THE BAND, MC CHRIS, THE PRESIDENTS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, THE AQUABATS, ME FIRST AND THE GIMME GIMMES and the late WESLEY WILLIS (who himself penned an unfortunately unrecorded song entitled "DOWNTOWN BROWN").
In late 2004, DTB independently released their self-titled opus on CHOCOLATE STAIN RECORDS. The album was hailed by critics as being; "a complete madhouse,I am seriously at a loss for words", "jaw
dropping.", "the one thing that took me out of my mild depression over the death of Dimebag Darrell", "incredibly clever from both a musical and lyrical standpoint", "the DEVO of metal", "ridiculous, insane,
funky and hilarious" and "in a league with ridiculously talented musicians like LES CLAYPOOL and FRANK ZAPPA."
In 2005, DTB toured intensely in support of their self-titled release, firmly establishing themselves as a well drawing regional act in every major market in the Midwest. 2006 stood as the year the band upped the ante; playing well over 100 gigs including multiple dates on the 2006 VANS WARPED TOUR and releasing a LIVE CD/DVD that captured the fury of their live show.
In 2007, the band started touring full time in support of their 2006 release, "I LOVE BURGERS", which sold out of itâs first pressing in a matter of months. Since then, the band has completed two national tours, released ANOTHER DVD and was also personally invited by WARPED TOUR founder KEVIN LYMAN to play a stint of dates on the 2007 tour. Riding this train straight to the gates of heck, DTB will undoubtedly establish themselves as one of the most unique and electric live acts in the entire countryâ¦.converting everyday people into drooling maniacs as they bring their trademark brand of BUTT FUNK to every nook and cranny of our great nation. BOOYAH.
"DOWNTOWN BROWN is a hip, entertaining and addictive mix of everything from balls out metal to funk to punk rock, all with a healthy dash of smartass humor ...DOWNTOWN BROWN is not musical anarchy or lame silliness ...these guys know exactly what theyre doing, and prove it by maintaining their own unique sound and attitude."

When you guys played in Detroit yesterday, I had no

Purely original music. Way to keep the Detroit scene
