BAND BIO
In 2004, a group of six passionate guys from Reno, Nevada joined forces to create a kind of sound that would change the face of the industry. Thus Dorcia was born. They were ready to break down the barriers between all types of music in Reno by grabbing the attention of fans with their unique sound, powerful lyrics, stage presence, and attitude. With a strong combination of eight years of experience and a devotion to making cutting edge music, Dorcia has been able to formulate a distinct style while utilizing a C tuning with three guitars. Dorcia entered Clutchmove studios in Reno with Julian Peach (December/Above All Things) in May of 2005 to record their 3-song demo entitled "Why Tigers Hate Florida." The demo reflects their ability to write songs with a wide range of influences from hardcore to metal to emo as well as showcases their musical talent. After a few member changes, a solid line up is now set. Dorcai will be entering the studio in August of 2006 with acclaimed producer/engineer Tom Gordon (Fall Silent, December) to record their much anticipated full length. Dorcia has made a name for themselves in all Nevada and California regions playing Fallon, Elko, Las Vegas, Fresno, Modesto, Marysville, Livermore, Tracy, Salinas, Sacramento, and Hollywood. They have quickly become a local favorite in the Reno/Sparks area playing at numerous venues around town. Constant motion, guitar swinging, hair flailing, fists in the air, and microphone flying give Dorcia a special crowd interaction that few bands can touch. The attention Dorica has attracted has enabled them to have played with well known bands such as Misery Signals, The Warriors, Apiary, Fate Thirteen, Devolve, At Dawn, Allegiance, Ceremony, Conducting From the Grave, With Passion, Stars Are Falling, The Autumn Offering, Horse the Band, One Mark One Mission, and Moria.

So this past weekend, we competed in the first leg of Reno..s own ..Winter Band War... Five bands played in the second leg of the first round of the war. Stripped Away, Shades of Difference, Axion, Dominion, and Dorcia all represented their genres very well. Talk about an amazing show that showcased a ton of local and some non-local talent. We were honored to find out that we scored an 87 points out of a possible 90 and get to move on to the finals on December 1st. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported and a huge thanks to all the bands. It was the most fun we have had in a long time.
So far, after two legs of the first round, Mnemonic and Dorcia have moved on to the finals. Two more weekends are in store for the war. Many more local and non-local acts. Check out Club Underground for more information (www.myspace.com/clubunderground).

We hit Imirage tonight at 730. We had to lay down the final acoustic guitar track and a few extra clean vocal harmonies. Upon finishing both of those, we got to get the rough mixes in order.
Letting Tom be Tom, we watched Aaron have a "figity" night while Brian passed out on the floor. Timmy had a soccer ball at his feet; while Zach and Travis talked about how stripping is a great way to make some money.
Around 1 in the morning, Cd in hand, we went home to listen and take notes.
So far, with only a rough mix, it truly sounds amazing.

Recording Blog Part Three
This past week and weekend for that matter, we have all but finished up the tracking portion of our full length. Tuesday evening Travis went in and got 4 songs done in three hours. With a sore throat and a headache, we called in for re-enforcements. The... "Smug Death Choir"... entered the studio to record all the voice tracking for...Smug...Armed with the voices of 14 people ..Smug.. turned out amazing. The piano, drums, vocals and ..choir.. layer is off the charts cool. We spent the rest of the night acquiring a tone for Aaron..s guitar. On such a high note, we called it a night.
The following Friday, Travis started to track more vocals; knocking out two more of them before we began to track Aaron..s guitar tracks. With lots of caffeine and pumpkin muffins in the future, Aaron began to shred. From 8 at night until 2 in the morning Aaron laid all nine guitar tracks.
Sunday morning, Travis picked up where he left off and finished his last song. Aaron and Zach came in afterwards and laid down their vocal harmonies before blowing out their little voices..then the fun part began. With almost everything tracked, minus a few acoustic guitar parts, we placed some well deserved cymbal swells and 808 hits..and let me tell you, the 808..s felt good. Searching and auditioning (what felt like a hundred tones) for the right hit, we finally found our money maker. Strategically placed of course, to not piss Tim off nor make it seem masturbatory to Brian...
This has been the longest we have ever worked on and album in our lives. We are so proud of this and it hasn..t even been mixed. Everything is huge and tight with nothing but an even better sound in the near future. We will begin to mix the record on Tuesday evening. Hopefully some unmastered tracks will be up soon.
Also, this Thursday the Reno News and Review..s ..Music Beat.. will have Dorcia as their spotlight band. Check it out.
