Diamond Nights formed in 2003 as a group betrothed to the pursuit of song, not genre. As such, their music oscillates from straightforward to strange, from bombastically heavy to casually reserved. More specifically, it's the sort of music that seems to embody a band somewhere between its first experimentation with hard drugs and prior to the calamitous meltdown, getting cleaned up and writing mediocre soft rock hits. And it's on the edge of this precipice where they've made songs that take you down around the catacombs, past smokestacks belching fire, beneath the rusted skies of Long Island City, New York.
