Detonation first formed in the autumn of 1997 as a side-project, by Koen (vocals/guitar), Thomas (drums) and Mike (guitar). A year later Otto joined on bass and this is the line-up as it remains today. In January 2000 the first mini CD "Lost Euphoria" came out.

In June 2003 the first full-length album "An Epic Defiance" was released worldwide by Osmose Productions from France, to which the band signed for 3 albums. The 2nd full-length album "Portals To Uphobia" was recorded during December 2004 & January 2005 and was released in September 2005 on Osmose Productions in Europe and The End Records in North America.

Detonation's brand new album "Emission Phase" was recorded in early 2007 under productional guidance of Jochem Jacobs (Textures) and was released April 30th 2007.
