Final Words
Its hard to sit here and write about your own band let alone writing a final message. Sad days.
After 6 years of Omerata we have decided to call it a day. Our reasons vary from personal to political but at the end of the day we have all reached a point in our lives where we have grown apart and need to move on to other things. We still want to continue making music individually and maybe together in the future sometime.
We started this band as Means To An End on the premise to make really fucking heavy music and we think we did. In our short life-span we have travelled to many places and made lots of friends and enemies and recorded a split and EP and an album that didnt quite make it, but it will be available sometime in the future as the last chapter of Omerata. We dont think we even expected that much and we would like to think we made an impact or had an effect either good or bad for what we did do.
There is no doubt that we love the music that we make together and what we have done over this time and we have no regrets about anything. We have had some of the best experiences of our lives playing in this band. We believe that we have pushed ourselves and our audience musically from our first shows playing in front of 2 people at a cold noisy youth centre to playing with bands we love and respect on big and small stages all up and down the east coast of Australia and everywhere in between.
We would like to thank all of our dedicated fans (all 5 of you) and our families and friends and all the other bands we have shared the stage, a studio, a beer, a floor, a fight, a bed, a car, a van, a shirt, a favour, a girlfriend, an argument, Simpsons quotes with. We love and thank you all.
We will be playing our last ever Omerata on Saturday the 8th of July at the Lair, Metro, Sydney (the small room at the Metro). We will be playing 2 huge sets supported by our long time mates, Perish The Thought and some new blood that is making an impact, All Embedded Memories.
