DAYNA MANNING I was told I need to write a Bio to tell people about myself. I've been finding it very hard to do, so I've been asking my friends for advice. They told me that I should start right from the beginning of my FOLKPOP music career. Said I should tell everyone about how when I was 15 I was arrested for stealing and had to spend a year in my room, and that's when I got good at playing guitar and piano and started refining my songwriting skills. That the following year I started recording my debut record "Volume 1" which was picked up by EMI Canada and released when I was 18, and featured the singles "Half The Man" and "My Addiction". I was to also mention that the record included guest appearances by Sean Lennon and Melanie Doane, and that I produced my favorite track on it. Oh yeah and that it was nominated for a JUNO. They said I should tell you how I've performed extensively throughout North America, touring with Lilith Fair, scoring opening slots for the likes of Radiohead, 54:40, Lisa Loeb, Burton Cummings, Remy Shand, and Joe Cocker, among countless others. They said that I should definitely mention my second record SHADES which was released in 2002. They said it's really a lovely album that no one has really taken the time to listen to, but they should. They said that I had to mention that Chad Smith from the Chili Peppers played on it(?). The one thing they all really stressed that I should tell you about is what I'm doing now. How for the past two years I've been saving up my hard earned money buying a few key pieces of recording gear, bit by bit, so I could spend every spare moment applying the eight years of recording techniques I've observed in BIG studios working with BIG engineers record my own stuff they way I wanted to at home. How I've even spent the last eight months taking drum lessons so I could play on my tracks. How they say I've written some of the best songs I've ever written over the last while, and that I will have them out in the new year.
