Graduation and Moving On
blog post
As of Saturday I am an alumnus of Judson College. So far it means that I have a formal education that only about 2% of the world possesses, and that if a job description says, "Bachelor's Degree Required," I am not automatically disqualified.
The question now is this: How do I get paid for what I do? I am seeking a full-time job with a church being a worship leader. Current problems include that it has to be close enough to drive, and it has to be full-time. These are hard to come by. I have five years of college education, so finding a job that pays well should be easy, right? *Sigh* Not necessarily. It's a harsh world out there.
Quick change of topic: I have sold over 100 CD's! Yeah, that's pretty sweet. Only 400 more to go, then I'll be a sell-out. Or something. I am already thinking about the next album. It is going to be better. I am getting excited for it already. I look to write more songs with more substance. It's always good to have something meaty to chew on. Something in the vein of Bob Dylan, Derek Webb or Chris Hall, you know, the songwriting greats. Give me a year.
Is there a place in this employee saturated world for me to work? Is there room in this over-crowded music scene to get a spot on someone's playlist? Is there any way that lunchtime can get here sooner? I don't have the answers, but not knowing is what makes life exciting.
Like Charlie said in All Dogs Go to Heaven, "Let me be surprised."
Live,
